Wichita 10, Sioux City 5 – Game 4 (Wichita wins series, 3-1) – Box
The Wichita Wingnuts advance to the American Association Championship Series as they defeated Sioux City in game four, 10-5. Wichita scored four runs in the second inning to jump ahead 4-1 and would roll on from there to the series clinching win. The Wingnuts collected 13 hits in the contest and was led by DH Brent Clevlen who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Wichita CF Harrison Cain added three hits, two runs and a RBI while C Martin Medina plated a run and drove in two in a 2-for-4 night. Wingnuts pitcher Mike Devine struck out the side in an inning of relief to earn the victory. For Sioux City in the losing effort, LF Derrick Robinson and SS Nate Samson each had four hits in the contest.
Winnipeg 5, St. Paul 4 – Game 4 (Series tied, 2-2) – Box
Winnipeg 1B David Rohm scored the go-ahead run on a bases loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning as the Goldeyes went on to beat St. Paul, 5-4 in game four of the first-round series. Rohm had three hits on the night to lead the offense while 2B Casio Grider chipped in with a home run. Winnipeg pitcher Victor Capellan tossed two scoreless innings of relief to notch his first win of the postseason. Capellan gave up a hit and struck out five in the seven batters faced. For St. Paul, 3B Nate Hanson went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. The victory by the Goldeyes forced a winner-take-all game five tomorrow night at CHS Field beginning at 7:05 PM.
