SEVEN-RUN FIFTH PROPELS WICHITA TO GAME THREE VICTORY

Wichita 13, Sioux City 0 – Game 3 (Wichita leads series, 2-1) – Box

With the game scoreless through four innings, Wichita plated seven big runs in the fifth to jump ahead 7-0 and would roll from there to a 13-0 win over Sioux City. Wingnuts C Martin Medina went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI while 1B Matt Chavez hit a home run, scored twice and drove in three runs. Wichita starting pitcher Jesse Pratt threw six solid innings in earning his first postseason win. Pratt gave up only a walk and four hits while striking out a batter. The bullpen trio of Mike Devine, Luis Pardo and Chase Johnson each tossed a scoreless inning of relief with Johnson giving up a hit and fanning one. Game four of the first-round series is tomorrow night at 7:00 PM with the Wingnuts looking for a victory to advance to the championship series.

St. Paul 3, Winnipeg 2 – Game 3 (St. Paul leads series, 2-1) – Box

St. Paul LF/SS Tony Thomas hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Saints a 3-2 walk-off victory over Winnipeg. The Goldeyes had a 2-0 lead after seven innings of play only to see St. Paul plate two runs in the eighth to tie the contest and then win it in the ninth on the Thomas home run. Saints 3B Nate Hanson went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored while leadoff hitter Alonzo Harris collected two hits in four at-bats and drew a walk. Saints closer Ryan Rodebaugh tossed a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to pick-up his first win of the postseason. St. Paul will look to close out the series with game four tomorrow night at 5:05 PM.
