Winnipeg 3, St. Paul 1 – Game 5 (Winnipeg wins series, 3-2) – Box

The Winnipeg Goldeyes advance to the American Association Championship Series with a 3-1 victory over St. Paul in game five of the first-round series. Winnipeg received another stellar pitching performance from starter Mikey O’Brien. O’Brien tossed the first seven innings allowing no runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. The righty notched his first win of the postseason and has only given up a run with 12 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. Offensively for the Goldeyes, DH Adam Heisler went 2-for-5 with two runs scored while LF Willie Cabrera and CF Reggie Abercrombie each collected a hit and drove in a run. The Goldeyes will take on Wichita in the championship series with game one Wednesday night in Winnipeg.
