Wichita 7, Kansas City 6- Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts overcame a five-run deficit to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones in walk-off fashion on Sunday.

Both teams scored in the first inning, but the rest of the early innings were all T-Bones. Kansas City scored one in the second, third, and fourth before capping their scoring with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth by Dexter Kjerstad to make the lead 6-1. The Wingnuts came alive in the very next frame, cutting the lead to one with an RBI single by Ferando Perez and a three-run home run by Tony Thomas. Ryne Willard tied the game with a solo home run in the next inning.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth when Thomas came through for the Wingnuts again with a two-out RBI single.

Daniel Tillman was awarded the win for pitching a scoreless ninth.

 

Lincoln 4, Cleburne 3- Box Score

Brandon Jacobs added to his league leading home run total on Sunday to lift the Lincoln Saltdogs to a 4-3 victory over the Cleburne Railroaders.

The Saltdogs were leading 1-0 at the start of the fourth inning, but the lead was quickly erased by the Palmeiros. With one out, Patrick Palmeiro smacked a single to drive in KC Huth, who led off the inning with a single. Two batters later, Rafael Palmeiro drove in his son and Levi Scott with a two-run double to take a 3-1 lead. Lincoln cut the lead to one in the following frame with an RBI single by Brant Whiting.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Nathaniel Maggio singled to set up Jacobs, who capitalized with his ninth home run of the season, a two-run blast to secure that secured the win.

Tyler Herron earned the win for Lincoln, striking out nine while allowing three earned on six hits and one walk over seven innings.

Jose Jose earned the save for the Saltdogs.

 

Chicago 6, Winnipeg 5- Box Score

The Chicago Dogs held on to defeat the Winnipeg Goldeyes by a score of 6-5 on Sunday.

The Goldeyes scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead. The Dogs cut the lead to two in the next frame with an unearned run of their own. Winnipeg answered in the bottom of the second with the game’s first earned run, an RBI single by Reggie Abercrombie.

Chicago trimmed the lead to 4-2 with an RBI single by Michael Baca in the top of the fourth. In the next inning, they claimed the lead, scoring one on an RBI single by Craig Maddox and two on a home run by Matt Dean.

The Dogs extended their newfound lead in the next inning, scoring on an RBI single by Maddox to make the score 6-4. Abercrombie drove in another run in the following inning to cut the lead to one, but the scoring would end there.

Chicago’s starter John Goosen-Brown was awarded the win, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three in six innings of work.

Kaohi Downing pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

 

Gary SouthShore 9, Fargo-Moorhead 7- Box Score

The Gary SouthShore Railcats came out on top of a offensive shootout against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks with a 9-7 win on Sunday.

The RedHawks collected 11 hits, but the Railcats had 17. Colin Willis led the way, going 3-5 at the dish with two home runs and 4 RBI.

Gary SouthShore trailed 5-4 until the top of the eighth when Mitch Glasser picked up an RBI single and Willis clubbed a three-run home run. The Railcats scored one more in the top of the ninth to bring the game to a 9-5 total. The RedHawks pushed in the bottom of the ninth by scoring two, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Railcats’ big eighth.

Charlie Valerio and Keury De La Cruz had notable days for Fargo-Moorhead. Valerio went 2-3 while hitting his eighth home run of the season and driving in two. De La Cruz went 1-5, but drove in three.

Adam Quintana was awarded the win after pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
