St. Paul 4, Sioux Falls 1- Box Score
The North Division leading St. Paul Saints won again on Sunday, defeating the Sioux Falls Canaries 4-1.
Jake Esch was commanding on the mound for the saints, allowing just one earned in six innings of work. He has now given up just one run over the his last 13 innings.
The Saints scored first in the bottom of the second before adding another in the next inning on a solo home run by JJ Gould. The Canaries cut the deficit to one in the top of the sixth when Jabari Henry batted an RBI single. St. Paul brought the game to its final score in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run double by Richard Prigatano.
Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season.
Texas 6, Sioux City 5- Box Score
The Texas AirHogs used a big second inning to defeat the Sioux City Explorers 6-5 on Sunday.
The AirHogs scored all six of their runs in the top of the second. In the inning, Texas batted through the order while collecting five of their eight hits and allowing Chen Chen (1 RBI), Luan Chenchen (1), Chu Fuja (1), Lu Zhenhong (2), and Corelle Prime (1) to drive in runners. Sioux City scored one in the bottom of the frame, one in the sixth, and three in the eighth, but the AirHogs were able to hold on for the win.
Meng Weiqiang was awarded the win after allowing two earned on five hits and four walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings. Taylor Wright earned the save.
