Kansas City 4, Texas 3 (Game 1 – 8 Innings) — Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones scored a pair of late runs to top the Texas AirHogs 4-3 in the first game of their Thursday twinbill in extra innings.
The AirHogs were leading 3-2 going into the top of the seventh inning but Kansas City tied the score when LF Dexter Kjerstad scored while 3B Mason Davis reached base thanks to a dropped third strike. The T-Bones scored the eventual game-winning run in the next inning when Kjerstad singled home DH Zach Walters.
For the AirHogs, 2B Casio Grider and 1B Correlle Prime each had a pair of hits and for the T-Bones, Walters and Kjerstad also added a pair of hits.
Kansas City 1, Texas 0 (Game 2 – 7 Innings) – Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones’ pitching staff combined to no-hit the Texas AirHogs in the second game of their doubleheader, paving the way for a 1-0 win.
Starter Francisco Gracesqui set the table with four innings of hitless work. He struck out nine batters on the night as well. Relievers Kevin Hill and Joe Filomeno tossed the fifth and sixth and combined for three more strikeouts. Reliever Cody Winiarski finished things off in the seventh, adding one more strikeout.
The game’s only run came in the top of the fifth inning when LF Dexter Kjerstad hit a solo home run, his fourth of the year.
Wichita 5, Lincoln 3 – Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts turned 12 hits into a 5-3 win against the Lincoln Saltdogs on Thursday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Leadoff man 2B Logan Watkins went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. CF Zach Nehrir went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run and 3B Ryne Willard and LF Nick Rotola both also added two hits. For the Saltsogs, CF Randolph Oduber doubled and homered in the game as he went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
On the mound, starting pitcher Tyler Kane picked up the win after throwing six innings and giving up two earned runs on two hits while striking out seven batters. Reliever Daniel Tillman earned a five out save and struck out three batters.
Fargo-Moorhead 9, Winnipeg 4 – Box Sore
Eight of the nine batters in the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks’ recorded at least one hit on the night as they moved past the Winnipeg Goldeyes 9-4.
3B Leobaldo Pina led the way for the RedHawks as he went 4-for-5 with a triple, five RBIs and a run scored. Four other RedHawks added two-hit games including 2B Maikol Gonzalez and SS Yhoxian Molina, who each also had one RBI. CF Devan Ahart and C Charlie Valerio were the other two RedHawk batters to record a pair of hits.
For Winnipeg, CF Reggie Abercrombie went 3-for-5 and RF Josh Romanski hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.
