SUICIDE SQUEEZE LIFTS T-BONES TO DRAMATIC WIN

Kansas City 7, Sioux City 6 (10 Innings)Box

Kansas City SS Darrell Hudson scored the game winning run on a suicide squeeze bunt by CF Robby Kuzdale in the bottom of the 10th inning as the T-Bones defeated the Sioux City Explorers in dramatic fashion, 7-6. Kansas City’s 1-2 of RF Bryan Sabatella and LF David Espinosa went a combined 6-for-10 at the plate with two stolen bases, three runs scored and three RBI. T-Bones closer Kris Regas picked up his third victory as he allowed a hit and a walk in an inning of work. For Sioux City in defeat, 2B Andres Perez went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Sioux Falls 4, Amarillo 3 (11 Innings)Box

Sioux Falls 2B Sam Lind hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning to plate 3B Carlos Mendez with the game winning run as the Canaries beat the Amarillo Sox by the score of 4-3. The rally started as Mendez reached on an error by Amarillo SS Kyle Bellows. With one out, he would steal second base and then take third on an error by Sox C Jeff Farnham. Mendez would then be brought home on the sacrifice fly by Lind. Sioux Falls SS Shelby Ford went 2-for-5 with his sixth home run of the season while C Kevin Dultz hit two doubles and a triple in a 3-for-4 night. Canaries reliever Kye Winter pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win.

Winnipeg 2, New Jersey 1 Box

A first inning two-run home run by LF Ray Sadler and a solid team pitching performance leads the Winnipeg Goldeyes to a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League. With a runner on first base, Sadler took a 1-0 pitch and hit his seventh home run of the season. It was Sadler’s only hit of the game as he went 1-for-4. Winnipeg starting pitcher Matthew Jackson was terrific as he went 6 2/3 innings giving an earned run on four hits and struck out five batters. The bullpen trio of Brendan Lafferty, Chris Kissock and Kyle Bellamy did not allow a hit in the last 2 1/3 innings and fanned five batters. Jackson notched the victory to improve to 5-2 on the season and Bellamy collected his fifth save.

Lincoln at St. Paul (PPD – Rain)

The game between Lincoln and St. Paul was postponed due to rain. Since the two teams do not meet in St. Paul again this season, the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Lincoln on Thursday, August 21st at 5:05 PM.
