STRAWN THROWS COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT FOR LAREDO

Laredo 6, Grand Prairie 0 – Box

The Laredo Lemurs shut out the Grand Prairie AirHogs 6-0 on the back of an excellent performance from starting pitcher Jeremy Strawn. Strawn threw all nine innings and didn’t allow a single run to round out a complete game shutout. He struck out four batters and walked one while working around just five hits. Offensively, 1B John Alonso backed up Strawn’s performance. He led the Lemurs with three hits and his 13th long ball of the season. He drove in three runs and scored once.

Sioux City 10, Sioux Falls 9 – Box

In a high scoring game between the Sioux City Explorers and the Sioux Falls Canaries, the Explorers came out on the better end, winning 10-9. CF Tim Colwell paced the offense for Sioux City out of the two-spot, going 3-5 with an RBI and three runs. DH Peter Barrows also had a nice night at the plate, going 2-5 with his seventh home run of the season. Sioux City reliever Rob Wort picked up the win for the Explorers after 1.2 innings where he racked up three strikeouts.

Wichita 10, Amarillo 6 – Box

The Wichita Wingnuts got twice as many hits (16-8) as the Amarillo Sox and wound up beating them 10-6. Leadoff hitter and shortstop Ryan Koury proved to be the sparkplug at the top of the lineup for the Wingnuts, going 3-5 with five RBIs and two runs. He tripled for the first time of the season as well. LF Jake Luce also racked up three hits for Wichita, going 3-5 with a run out of the eighth spot in the lineup.
