SALTDOGS WALK OFF ON WINGUTS IN 11 INNINGS

Lincoln 3, Wichita 2 (11 Innings) – Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs walked off on the Wichita Wingnuts 3-2 in the 11th inning with a bases-loaded walk that plated LF Brandon Jacobs.

The game was tied at 2-2 after nine innings but it was the Saltdogs that found the scoreboard first on the night. CF Angel Reyes hit a lead-off triple in the bottom of the second and scored in the next at-bat when Jacobs (3-for-4) doubled. The Wingnuts took the lead in the top of the fourth when 1B Abel Nieves scored on a RF Hunter Clanin (3-for-5) single and C John Nester drew a bases-loaded walk.

DH Curt Smith (2-for-3) tied things back up in the bottom of the fifth when he singled to score 3B Christian Ibarra.

The scored remained level until the 11h when Jacobs hit a lead-off single. He took second when RF Randolph Oduber drew a walk and then third when Ibarra singled to load the bases. 1B/2B T.J. Bennett earned the walk on five pitches to pick up the walk-off win.

 

Texas 3, Chicago 2 (Game 1/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Texas AirHogs edged the Chicago Dogs 3-2 in the first game of their Monday evening doubleheader.

The action picked up in the fourth inning as LF Joe Benson gave (2-for-3) the Dogs a 2-0 lead with a two-run home run. In the bottom of the frame, the AirHogs tied things up as 1B Correlle Prime doubled to score RF Steward Ijames and then scored himself with SS Casio Grider (2-for-3) singled two batters later.

The AirHogs scored what turned out to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth when Prime stole home on a double-steal attempt with Grider.

3B Trey Vavra, who scored when Benson homered, added a 2-for-2 performance for the Dogs.

 

Chicago 6, Texas 1 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs bounced back in the second game of their doubleheader with the Texas AirHogs and took game two 6-1.

The Dogs took the early lead as CF Kenny Wilson drew a lead off walk in the top of the first inning and then came around to score when 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-3) singled in the next at-bat. Arroyo scored later in the inning on a sac fly from RF Jonathan Moroney.

The AirHogs pulled one back in the fourth when 1B Correlle Prime (2-for-3) tripled and then scored on a single from LF Dillon Thomas but that was the only run of the game for Texas.

Chicago added four more runs in the seventh thanks back-to-back RBI singles from Moroney and SS Stephen Perez, a bases-loaded walk from DH Tony Rosselli and a sac fly from 3B Matt Dean.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Sioux Falls 1 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks held the Sioux Falls Canaries to just five hits on the way to a 6-1 win at Sioux Falls Stadium Monday night.

The RedHawks, on the other hand, racked up 14 hits (at least one from each of the nine batters) and saw multi-hit games from four different hitters. DH Keury De La Cruz had a team-high three hits as well as an RBI and a run scored. 1B Chris Jacobs added a 2-for-5 performance with a run and an RBI and both 3B Leobaldo Pina and RF Tim Colwell added a pair of hits.

Sioux Falls’ lone run came from 1B David Bergin, who had an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bergin finished the night 2-for-4.

 

Kansas City 10, Cleburne 4 – Box Score

Three big innings from the Kansas City T-Bones led them to a 10-4 win against the Cleburne Railroaders.

The T-Bones struck first in the top of the fourth inning as 1B Nick Torres (2-for-5) doubled home 3B Colin Walsh and then scored when SS Taylor Featherson hit two-run home run. Kansas City added three more runs in the seventh when CF Todd Cunningham (2-for-5) hit a three-run double and then tacked on four more in the top of the ninth.

In the final frame, Cunningham hit an RBI single and then Torres scored him along with Walsh with a three-run home run.

For the Railroaders, RF Cameron Monger led the way with three hits and an RBI.
