TORRES TEARS IT UP TO EARN CONTRACT WITH THE RANGERS

MOORHEAD, MINNESOTA — The contract of Kansas City T-Bones’ OF Nick Torres (pictured) has been purchased by the Texas Rangers, the American Association announced on Tuesday.

Torres put together a very strong .329/.387/.498 slash line over 55 games with the T-Bones. The Cal Poly alum capped his American Association run on Monday by going 2-for-5 with 1 HR, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored in a 10-4 win over the Cleburne Railroaders. During his time in Kansas City, Torres had the second most doubles in the league (20), the second most hits (76), and the fifth most RBIs (43).

The Peoria, Arizona native began his professional career in 2014 after being drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 14th round of the MLB Draft. Torres spent four seasons in the Padres organization reaching triple-A in 2016 where he hit .308 with 6 HRs and 18 RBIs in 36 games. Last season, the 25 year old hit .277 with 11 HRs and 61 RBIs for the San Antonio Mission (double-A) before signing with the T-Bones in the offseason.
