Lincoln 8, Kansas City 5 (F/12)- Box Score
The Lincoln Saltdogs won 8-5 in a 12-inning marathon against the T-Bones on Thursday.
Angel Reyes (10), Brandon Jacobs (13), and Dan Johnson (1) all hit solo home runs for the Saltdogs before heading to extras. The T-Bones’ Mason Davis hit a solo home run (4) of his own in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at four a piece.
The game remained tied until Dashenko Ricardo (2-for-5) hit an RBI double in the top of the 11th to put Lincoln up by one. However, Kansas City tied it back up on an RBI single by Noah Perio Jr. in the bottom of the inning. The tie would be broken again in the next frame when Johnson hit a sacrifice fly and Randolph Oduber (2-for-5) hit a two-run double to bring the game to its final score.
J.R. Bunda (3-0) was awarded the win and Jake Hohensee earned the save (1).
Winnipeg 5, Texas 4- Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (29-36) rallied to walk off the Texas AirHogs (17-46) 5-4 on Thursday.
The AirHogs took a 2-0 lead on double by Corelle Prime (3-for-4) in the top of the third. In the fifth, Prime drove in two more runners with a single to put Texas up by four. The Goldeyes scored their first run in the bottom of the seventh when Matt McCann (1-for-3) drove in one with an RBI fielder’s choice.
Winnipeg got their rally going with a lead-off double by Grant Heyman (2-for-4) in the bottom of the ninth. The Goldeyes then rattled off four straight singles with Jordan Ebert, Josh McAdams (2-for-3), and McCann driving in a runner each. Two batters later, Reggie Abercrombie hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score McAdams and complete the comeback and end the game.
Victor Capellan (3-3) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the win.
St. Paul 3, Wichita 2- Box Score
The St. Paul Saints topped the Wichita Wingnuts by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
The Saints took a 1-0 lead on a Brady Shoemaker (2-for-4) RBI double in the bottom of the first. In the bottom of the third, Shoemaker scored on a groundout to make it 2-0. In the fifth, Justin OConner hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
The Wingnuts pushed, scoring two in the seventh on back-to-back RBI singles by Nick Rotola and Zach Nehir, but the scoring ended there.
St. Paul’s starter Chris Nunn (3-1) gave up just two earned in 6.1 innings of work to earn the win. Zack Jones pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save (4).
Sioux City 13, Cleburne 1- Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers (47-16) cruised to a 13-1 win over the Cleburne Railroaders (20-43) on Thursday.
Jay Baum (5-for-5) led Sioux City’s 20-hit offensive onslaught, driving in five to add to his league leading RBI total (61). Every Explorers’ batter had a hit but one. Luis Durango (3 hits), Michael Lang (2), Jose Sermo (3), Baum (5), Dexter McCall (2), and David Kerian (2) all had multiple hits.
Sermo hit the game’s only home run, a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth.
Sioux City’s starter Ian McKinney (1-0) pitched six shutout innings to earn the win.
