St. Paul 3, Texas 1 – Box Score

The St. Paul Saints pulled away from the Texas AirHogs late to take a 3-1 win on Friday night.

The AirHogs found the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning as LF Correlle Prime singled to center field to allow CF Dillon Thomas (2-for-4) to score. The Saints tied the score in the bottom of the frame as LF Burt Reynolds singled to push CF Kyle Barrett across the plate. The Saints broke the 1-1 tie in the eighth inning as Reynolds scored on an error and, later in the inning, 2B Zach Walters scored after C Justin O’Conner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The AirHogs outhit the Saints on the night 7-4, and both Thomas and RF Stewart Ijames had two hits.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Winnipeg 0 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks blanked the Winnipeg Goldeyes thanks to the effort of starting pitcher Brandon Barker.

Barker nearly tossed a complete game as he went 8.2 innings and allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out four batters. Reliever Anthony Pacillo came on to retire the one batter he faced with a strikeout to end the game and record the save.

Offensively, CF Devan Ahart (3-for-4) scored the opening run when he tripled home LF Brennan Metzger in the top of the first inning. Ahart scored in the next at-bat when 3B Leobaldo Pina bounced out. SS Derrick Fox scored in the third inning after Pina reached on a fielder’s choice and Ahart pushed another run across in the seventh with an RBI single.

 

Kansas City 4, Chicago 0 – Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones kept the Chicago Dogs scoreless on Friday night on the way to a 4-0 win.

The T-Bones started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when 1B Noah Perio Jr. (2-for-4) scored on a single from C Adrian Nieto (2-for-4). DH Collin Walsh drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to add to the lead and, in the next inning, SS Dylan Tice scored when 3B Mason Davis (2-for-3) singled. In the eighth, Perio Jr. score the final run of the night on a wild pitch.

For the Dogs, 2B Edwin Arroyo had a team-high three hits.

 

Wichita 11, Sioux Falls 8 – Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts exploded early and then held off the Sioux Falls Canaries late for an 11-8 win on Friday.

Wichita poured in three runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a three-run home run from 1B John Nester (3-for-5). DH David Bergin (2-for-4) hit a lead-off home run for the Canaries in the second but the Wingnuts pulled away with seven runs in the third. The frame was highlighted by a two-run double from RF Nick Rotola (2-for-5) and a three-run home run from DH Logan Watkins (2-for-5).

The Canaries rallied in the seventh inning as 3B Patrick Fiala (2-for-4) and RF Chris Grayson each hit two-RBI base hits and LF Jabari Henry hit a three-run home run but Sioux Falls couldn’t complete the comeback.

 

Gary SouthShore 7, Cleburne 3 (Game 1/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats took game one of their Friday doubleheader with the Cleburne Railroaders 7-3 as every batter got in on the action.

All nine RailCats had at least one hit as the team piled up 13 of them in the first game of the day. Both CF D.K. Carey and 2B Cole Fabio each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored while RF Colin Willis and SS Andy DeJesus added two hits and an RBI apiece as well.

For the Railroaders, DH Angelo Gumbs went 2-for-4 our and C Jake Simpson went 2-for-3 with an RBI. RF Cameron Monger scored two of the team’s three runs.

 

Gary SouthShore 9, Cleburne 3 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats swept their Friday doubleheader with the Cleburne Railroaders with a 9-3 win in the night cap.

The RailCats had 12 hits in the game and saw multi-hit games from four different batters. LF Tillman Pugh went 3-for-4 to lead the team and C Wilfredo Gimenez added a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs. Both DH Colin Willis and CF Reggie Wilson also added two-hit showings. Willis recorded an RBI and two runs scored.

For the Railroader, LF Trevor Sealey went 2-for-3 with an RBI and C Jake Simpson went 2-for-2 with a run scored.

 

 

Sioux City 6, Lincoln 3 (Game 1/9 Innings) – Box Score

A four-run sixth pushed the Sioux City Explorers to a 6-3 win against the Lincolns Saltdogs in the first game of their Friday twinbill.

Lincoln led 2-1 heading into the sixth inning thanks to a sac fly from LF Brandon Jacobs and an RBI double from C Dashenko Ricardo in the fifth. But the Explorers took over in the next frame. 3B Jose Sermo (2-for-2) doubled in the first run and then scored when SS Nate Samson singled in the next at-bat. Samson came around when 1B Dexture McCall singled two batters later. 2B Jay Baum (3-for-3) capped the rally by scoring when 3B/LF Daniel Jackson singled.

RF Michael Lang added a 2-for-4 performance for the Explorers.

Both teams added a run in the seventh but the Explorer’s maintained their three-run lead the rest of the way.

 

Sioux City 5, Lincoln 3 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score

With a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Sioux City Explorers slid past the Lincoln Saltdogs 5-3 to sweep the doubleheader.

The Explorers were trailing 3-2 after SS Cesar Valera scored on a 1B Jamey Smart single in the top of the fifth inning. But Sioux City tied the score when C Dylan Kelly (2-for-3) singled to let 1B David Kerian score in the bottom of the frame. In the next inning, 2B Jay Baum scored when DH Dexture McCall reached on an error and then McCall scored as Kerian lifted a sac fly to give the Explorers a two-run lead.

For the Saltdogs, RF Randolph Oduber went 2-for-3 and 3B Christian Ibarra hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
