SAINTS COMEBACK TO TOPPLE MILKMEN

St. Paul 7, Milwaukee 4 — Box Score

The St. Paul Saints (3-4) turned up the firepower in the sixth and seventh innings to beat the Milwaukee Milkmen 7-4.

The Milkmen took the lead in the bottom of the first inning as SS Mason Davis hit a solo shot and RF Zach Nehrir added an RBI single. CF Brett Vertigan (2-for-4) added an RBI single in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. But in the sixth, St. Paul moved in front after a two-run home run from C Chris Chinea and a two-RBI single from 3B Mikey Reynolds.

In the seventh, 2B Josh Allen doubled home RF Max Murphy and then scored alongside 1B John Silviano (3-for-5) when LF J.C. Milan singled in the next at-bat. DH Adam Walker homered for the Milkmen in the bottom of the frame but that would be the final run of the game.

Starting pitcher Matt Solter earned the win for working seven innings and allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters.

 

Sioux Falls 8, Winnipeg 6 — Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries (5-2) extended their winning streak to four games and took the top spot on the early season standings with an 8-6 win against the WInnipeg Goldeyes (4-3).

The Canaries claimed a commanding lead early in the contest as 3B Damek Tomscha (4-for-5, 3 RBIs) singled home SS Andrew Ely (3-for-4, 3 R) in the first and, in the second, they tacked on five more runs. Ely singled home RF Logan Landon and LF Mike Hart scored on an error on the play and on the next pitch, DH Jabari Henry left the yard, plating Ely. 1B Alay Lago (2-for-5) scored later in the inning as C Clint Coulter bounced out. The Canaries added a single run in the fourth and again in the eighth to maintain their lead.

For the Goldeyes, CF Darnell Sweeney went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and 1B Kyle Martin and LF Jonathan Moroney each added a pair of hits.  

 

Chicago 11, Fargo-Moorhead 6 — Box Score

The Chicago Dogs (2-4) held off the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 11-6 thanks in large part to a 6-run eighth inning.

The Dogs were trailing the RedHawks 6-4 heading into the penultimate frame but quickly tied the score as CF Michael Crouse hit an RBI double and then scored when RF Tony Rosselli (2-for-4) singled in the next at-bat. Three batters later, 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-4, 5 RBIs) cleared the bases with the first grand slam of the 2020 American Association season. 

LF Victor Roache (2-for-4) scored on a sac fly off the bat of C Ryan Haug in the ninth to put a bow on the victory.

For the RedHawks, three batters went 2-for-5 with a run scored on the night: CF Brennan Metzger, RF Trey Hair and DH Dario Pizzano.
