Daniel Minor pitched went the distance for the Gary SouthShore Railcats in a seven inning shutout win over the Sioux City Explorers.

Minor (5-2) allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out eight in 6.2 innings of work.

The Railcats took a 1-0 lead on a throwing error in the top of the first. Then in the next inning they scored on a pick off attempt. In the top of the fifth Andy Paz hit an RBI single to bring the game to its final score.

With the win, Gary Southshore improved to 18-15 overall while the Explorers fell to 26-10.

 

St. Paul 1, Winnipeg 0- Box Score

Ryan Zimmerman and Jake Matthys combined to shutout the Winnipeg Goldeyes in a 1-0 win on Sunday.

Zimmerman (1-0) tossed 6.2 shutout innings, striking out seven in the process, and Matthys pitched the final 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the save (1).

The Saints scored their only run on a RBI single by Anthony Phillips in the bottom of the fifth inning.

With the win, St. Paul improved to 20-15 overall while the Goldeyes fell to 19-16.
