BANWART DOMINANT IN WINGNUTS WIN

Wichita 4, Fargo-Moorhead 1- Box Score

Travis Banwart was was dominant in a 4-1 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Sunday.

Banwart (4-1) stifled the RedHawks bats in the series winning victory, allowing no runs and just three hits while striking out nine in seven.

Logan Watkins led off the game with a home run (1) to give the Wingnuts a jump start. In the the sixth inning the lead was extended to 2-0 when Abel Nieves hit an RBI single. Fargo-Moorhead cut the lead to one in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out RBI double by Brennan Metzger, the only RedHawks’ player with multiple hits in the game. However, Wichita got some insurance in the next frame when Logan Trowbridge hit a two-run home run (1).

Daniel Tillman pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save (10)

With the win, the Wingnuts improved to 22-13 while Fargo-Moorhead fell to 17-17

 

Lincoln 5, Chicago 4- Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs hit a walk off to defeat the Chicago Dogs 5-4 in the 11th inning on Sunday.

The Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the game’s opening frame on a Trey Vavra single. The lead grew to 3-0 when Michael Falsetti hit an RBI double and Jonathan Moroney hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth. However, the Saltdogs managed to tie the game in the next frame on a three-run home run by Christian Ibarra.

The back and forth continued in the seventh inning when Falsetti hit another RBI single to make it 4-3 Chicago and Dashenko Ricardo tied the game on a solo some run in the bottom of the frame.

The game would remained tied until Randolph Oduber hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 11th.

Shairon Martis (1-2) was awarded the win.

With the win, the Saltdogs improved to 22-14 overall while the Dogs fell to 9-24.

 

Kansas City 6, Cleburne 5- Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones won 6-5 over the Cleburne Railroaders in extra inning walk-off fashion on Sunday.

The T-Bones picked up 15 hits in 10 innings, but it was a sacrifice fly by Dylan TIce in the bottom of the 10th that lifted Kansas City to the win.

The Railroaders led 4-0 heading to the bottom fifth thanks to two-run home runs by Levi Scott (3) and Patrick Palmeiro (5), but the T-Bones managed to cut the lead to one by scoring three in the bottom of the fifth.

Kansas City would go on tie the game in the bottom of the seventh on fielder choice by Keith Curcio. Both teams would score in the eighth to make it a 5-5 game.

Joe Filomeno (2-1) was awarded the win.

With the win, the T-Bones improved to 21-13 overall while the Railroaders fell to 12-22.

 

Texas 5, Sioux Falls 4- Box Score

The Texas AirHogs held on to defeat the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-4 on Sunday.

Sioux Falls took the first lead in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Glasser and  home run by Jordan Smith that made it 2-0. The AirHogs cut the lead to one in the next frame by scoring on a wild pitch but the Canaries made up for it by scoring one in the bottom of the fifth.

Texas tied the game with a two-run seventh and went on to score one on a Stewart Ijames single in the the eighth and one on a bases loaded walk to take a 5-3 lead. Burt Reynolds led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run to cut the lead to one, but the scoring would end there.

Cua Enting (1-0) was awarded the win and Carlos Contreras was awarded the save (2)

With the win, the AirHogs improved to 8-25 overall while the Canaries fell to 12-22.
