Milwaukee 3, St. Paul 1 (10 Innings) — Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen (8-4) worked past the St. Paul Saints 3-1 in 10 innings on Friday night at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The Milkmen broke the scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning when CF Brett Vertigan (2-for-5) scored on a sacrifice fly from SS Mason Davis. That looked to be the game-winning run until the bottom of the ninth inning when C Chris Chinea doubled home 3B Chesny Young, who drew a leadoff walk. That run forced the extra frame.

In the 10th, DH Aaron Hill led off the inning by reaching on an error. He scored the go-ahead run as Davis lifted a sac fly to left field. To batters later, 2B Dylan Tice (2-for-5) scored when RF Zach Nehrir singled. IN the bottom of the frame, reliever Peyton Gray retired the side in order to earn the save.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 14, Chicago 2 — Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (5-8) raced out to an early lead and rolled to a 14-2 win against the Chicago Dogs at Impact Field.

The RedHawks racked up 15 hits from eight different batters, all but two of which had multi-hit games. 1B Correlle Prime led the way with 3 hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Five other RedHawks had a pair of hits, including SS Christian Ibarra, who went 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

DH Dario Pizzano added a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs and 1B Drew Ward went 2-for-4, scoring three times, with his third homer of 2020.

The RedHawks pitching staff combined to allow just four hits in the game while striking out 12 batters, reliever Ryan Thurston earned the win for throwing four innings and allowing one hit while striking out seven. The Dogs’ only runs came in the bottom of the eighth when RF Tony Rosselli scored when 2B Edwin Arroyo bounced into a double play and 3B Harrison Smith doubled home C Garrett Hope.

 

Winnipeg vs. Sioux Falls — Postponed (Weather)

Due to thunderstorms in the Fargo area, the game between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Sioux Falls Canaries was postponed. The game will be made up tomorrow, Saturday July 18, as a part of a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Central Time. Both games will be seven innings.
