Texas 9, Chicago 7 – Box Score

A ninth-inning surge gave the Texas AirHogs (6-19) a 9-7 win against the Chicago Dogs.

The AirHogs were trailing 7-5 heading into the final frame but quickly cut into the lead as 2B Li Ning singled home pinch hitter Josh Prince. RF Stewart Ijames delivered the crucial blow with a three-run home run. Ijames finished the day 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Ning also had three hits and three runs scored for the AirHogs.

For the Dogs, 1B Keon Barnum (2-for-4), RF Victor Roache and C Rey Gonzalez (2-for-3) each homered in the game.

 

Lincoln 3, Sioux City 2 – Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs (14-11) edged in front in the fourth inning and held on to top the Sioux City Explorers 3-2.

Both teams jumped off to a quick start as 3B Christian Ibarra (2-for-4) scored in the top of the first inning when 1B Cody Regis bounced out and CF Michael Lang (2-for-4) countered with a solo home run in the bottom half. In the third, Ibarra doubled home CF Auggie Francis but the Explorers answered as RF Sebastian Zawada hit a solo shot of his own.

The difference maker came in the top of the fourth as 2B John Sansone hit his fifth home run of the season to take the lead for good. Reliever Ricky Knapp (2-1) picked up the win for working the final five innings and allowing just three hits.

 

Winnipeg 5, Gary SouthShore 3 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (15-9) cut short a ninth inning rally form the Gary SouthShore RailCats to seal a 5-3 win.

The Goldeyes built a 5-0 lead over the first eight innings thanks to a pair of RBIs from CF Reggie Abercrombie and one each from DH Josh Romanski, 3B Dominic Fiociello (2-for-4) and 1B Kyle Martin.

The RailCats fought back in the bottom of the ninth inning as SS Marcus Mooney singled home LF Raymond Jones (2-for-4) and then scored alongside 1B Chase Dawson when DH Alex Crosby (2-for-4) doubled. In the next at-bat, 2B Andy DeJesus struck out swinging to end the game.

Starting pitcher Parker French (2-0) earned the win after throwing 8.2 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out eight batters.

 

Kansas City 10, Cleburne 8 – Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones (10-13) outlasted the Cleburne Railroaders 10-8 to take the first game of their three-game series.

Six different T-Bones registered hits in the game and five of them had multi-hit games. CF Danny Mars went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and runs scored. DH Roy Morales also had three hits and two RBIs. SS Darnell Sweeney, RF Casey Gilaspie and LF Ryan Brett each added a pair of hits and 3B Ramsey Romano blasted a three-run shot in the third.

For the Railroaders, LF Nick Rotola and CF Zach Nehrir each went 2-for-5.

 

St. Paul 7, Fargo-Moorhead 4 – Box Score

Four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled the St. Paul Saints (16-7) to a 7-4 win against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

The RedHawks took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth after C Daniel Comstock (2-for-2) singled home 1B T.J. Bennett (2-for-4) and 3B Leobaldo Pina scored on an error. In the bottom of the frame, LF Blake Schmit was hit by a pitch in the leadoff spot and came around to score when 2B Josh Allen (3-for-4) singled. 3B Chesny Young drew a bases-loaded walk in the next at-bat and SS Joey Wong followed with a two-RBI single to give the Saints a three-run lead.

The RedHawks put two runners in scoring position in the ninth but reliever Todd Van Steensel closed the door without allowing a run.
