DOGS POWER PAST REDHAWKS IN MATINEE

Chicago 8, Fargo-Moorhead 3 — Box Score

The Chicago Dogs (3-5) powered past the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks 8-3 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.

Both teams scored in the first inning as 1B K.C. Hobson had an RBI double for the Dogs and LF Correlle Prime (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) had an RBI single for the RedHawks. But the Dogs started to pull away in the third after CF Michael Crouse (2-for-5) scored Hobson with a single. In the next frame, 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-3) doubled to score DH Blake Allemand and then scored in the next at-bat when 3B Joey Terdoslavich (4-for-5) homered.

SS Tyler Ladendorf (3-for-5) capped the scoring for the Dogs with a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning.

On the mound, starting pitcher Thomas Dorminy picked up the win for throwing seven innings and allowing one run on four hits while striking out four batters.

 

St. Paul 3, Milwaukee 2 — Box Score

The St. Paul Saints (4-5) slid past the Milwaukee Milkmen 3-2 thanks to an eighth-inning run on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Field.

Both teams plated a pair of runs in the opening inning. C Chris Chinea (2-for-5) pushed the first run across for the Saints with a single that allowed 3B Mikey Reynolds (3-for-5) to score and Chinea scored later in the inning when 2B Josh Allen singled. In the home half, SS Mason Davis singled home 3B Dylan Tice and then scored when 1B David Washington doubled in the next at-bat. 

The score remained level at 2-2 until the top of the eighth inning when the Saints loaded up the bases for CF Justin Byrd. Byrd singled to push DH Troy Alexander home for what turned out to be the game-winning run.

Starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman allowed two runs on four hits while striking out nine on the way to the win. 

 

Winnipeg 8, Sioux Falls 2 — Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (5-4) rode an early lead to an 8-2 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Sunday at Sioux Falls Stadium.

CF Darnell Sweeney kickstarted the game with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. In the second, SS Wes Darvill (3-for-5) singled home RF Jonathan Moroney (2-for-3) and in the third DH Logan Hill singled home 2B Kevin Lachance (3-for-6) and Hill scored when C John Nester (2-for-4) singled to take a 4-0 lead. 

The Canaries’ only runs came in the bottom of the fifth when DH Jabari Henry (2-for-4) doubled to score SS Andrew Ely (2-for-5) and then scored himself when 1B Alay Lago (2-for-3) singled. The Goldeyes added four more runs over the final four frames to create a comfortable cushion.
