MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Sioux Falls Canaries have sold the contract of OF Jordan Smith to the Cleveland Indians, the American Association announced today. Smith is the fifth player to have his contact sold to a Major League organization in 2019 and the 25th since the start of the 2018 American Association season.

Smith began the season with the St. Paul Saints before being traded to the Canaries after four games. In 79 games with Sioux Falls he batted .253 with 11 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 30 RBIs and 44 runs scored. He also stole 25 bases which was fourth highest in the American Association.
Smith is returning to the Indians organization that drafted him in the ninth round of the 2011 draft out of St. Cloud State University (Minn.). He advanced to the Triple-A level with the Indians in 2016 and 2017.
