SAINTS ALL-STAR CATCHER O’CONNER CATCHES ON WITH WHITE SOX

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The St. Paul Saints have sold the contract of C Justin O’Conner to the Chicago White Sox organization, the American Association announced. O’Conner is the sixth American Association player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2019, and the 26th since the start of the 2018 season.

O’Conner appeared in 82 games for the Saints in 2018 and batted .250 with ten doubles, 17 home runs, 41 RBIs and 44 runs scored. In addition, the cannon-armed O’Conner threw out 36 percent of would-be base-stealers (18-for-50). For his efforts, O’Conner was named an American Association Post-Season All-Star and was the American Association Defensive Player of the Year.

O’Conner joined the Saints in 2018 after spending eight seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. The former first round (31st overall) pick of the Rays in 2010 advanced as high as Triple-A with Tampa Bay. In 570 games prior to 2018, he batted .232 with 139 doubles, 63 home runs, 295 RBIs and 263 runs scored. A has thrown out 41 percent of would-be base-stealers in his career.
