Sioux Falls 2, Wichita 1 – Box

Sioux Falls starting pitcher Grady Wood recorded another terrific performance in leading the Canaries to a 2-1 victory over Wichita in the final game of three-game series. Wood, who has made five consecutive quality starts, went eight strong innings allowing only an earned run on four hits and struck out seven batters in 96 pitches. The righty notched the win and is now 5-1 on the season.  Offensively for Sioux Falls, the big hit of the game came in the third inning when RF Jabari Henry launched a two-home run to give the Canaries the lead at 2-1. For Wichita in the losing cause, 2B Christian Stringer accounted for their only run of the contest, a solo home run in the first inning.

Salina 5, Texas 1 – Box

The Salina Stockade scored three runs over the final two innings to open up a close game and defeat Texas by a 5-1 score. Salina collected nine hits as a team and was led by 1B Kewby Meyer who went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. Stockade 3B Jordan Caillouet added a pair of doubles and a run batted in while C Cody Coffman had a single and collected two RBI. Salina starting pitcher Josh Hodges tossed 6 1/3 solid innings in earning his first victory of the season. Hodges allowed an earned run on seven hits to go along with three strikeouts in 91 pitches thrown. For Texas, leadoff hitter Alvaro Rondon and 1B Ryan Wagner each had two hits in the contest.

Cleburne 2, Lincoln 1 – Box

Left fielder Axel Johnson singled home CF KC Huth in the third inning to give Cleburne a 2-1 lead and they would go on to win by that same margin over Lincoln. Johnson had a pair of hits in the game along with a RBI while leadoff hitter Maikol Gonzalez had a perfect 3-for-3 night with a run scored. Railroaders RF Derrick Pyles and 1B/3B Yunesky Sanchez also chipped in two hits in four at-bats. Cleburne starter Harrison Lee gave up an earned run over 5 1/3 innings of work to pick up his first win of the season. Lee allowed two walks and four hits while striking out five. With the victory, Cleburne split the four-game series with the Saltdogs.
