WISE SOLD TO RANGERS

Wichita Wise

DH J.T. Wise (pictured) of the Wichita Wingnuts is headed back to affiliated baseball. Wise, in his first season with the Wingnuts, has been sold to the Texas Rangers and will be assigned to the Class AA Frisco RoughRiders. Frisco is currently in the midst of a series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in Springdale, Arkansas.

Wise is currently hitting .297 for the Wingnuts with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 42 RBI. He is tied for second in the American Association in both home runs and RBI. The Orlando, Florida resident was named the American Association Player of the Week for the week ending June 22, a week in which he was 10-for-26.

In a June 20 game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Wise was 2-for-4 with two home runs. In the finale of that same series on June 22, Wise had another two-homer game in which he drove in six. Wise had two three-hit games in his last week with the Wingnuts- a 3-for-5 performance on July 1 against the Amarillo Sox and a 3-for-4 game against the Sioux City Explorers on July 3.

Wise came to Wichita from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, where he played for five seasons. His best average came in 2009, his first year in the organization when he played with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League. Wise’s best year for RBIs and home runs came in 2011 with the Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, when he hit 17 long balls and drove in 73. Wise spent 2012 and 2013 with the Class AA Chattanooga Lookouts.

Wise becomes the first Wingnuts player sold this season, but the ninth from the American Association.
