HEARTHER FIRST REPEAT WINNER OF AMERICAN ASSOCIATION PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes INF Casey Haerther (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 6.

Haerther, who previously won the award for the week ending June 15, recorded seven multi-hit games this week in eight tries. He had three or more hits on four occasions and is currently riding a 17-game hitting streak. The Goldeyes are currently on a franchise record 11-game winning streak.

Haerther began his week with a Monday doubleheader against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, going 3-for-3 in game one with a home run and three RBIs in an 8-3 win. In the nightcap, Haerther was 2-for-5, driving in another run. The Goldeyes hosted the Kansas City T-Bones Tuesday through Thursday, and Hearther collected nine hits in the series. He homered and drove in two runs in Tuesday’s Canada Day matinee, a 5-3 win. He collected three hits in the middle game of the series before logging a 4-for-6 game in the finale with two RBIs. The Goldeyes went to Fargo to face the RedHawks for the Fourth of July weekend and picked up another sweep. Haerther homered in game one of the series, a 3-for-4 game. On Saturday, Hearther went 4-for-5 in an 8-4 win. A 1-for-3, two RBI game on Sunday helped Winnipeg to complete the sweep with a 14-4 triumph.

The former UCLA Bruin is now hitting a whopping .425 (77-for-181) with 20 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBIs. He leads the league in batting by over 60 points.

The Goldeyes will try and continue their winning streak on Tuesday when they host the Sioux City Explorers at 7:00 p.m. at Shaw Park in Winnipeg.
