SEVENTH INNING RALLY PROPELS T-BONES

The Sioux Falls Canaries broke the 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh inning but the Kansas City T-Bones responded in the bottom of the frame with four runs to take the lead and that margin held as they claimed a 7-4 victory.

The T-Bones rally in the bottom of the seventh was kick-started by a solo home run from 1B Nick Schwaner. Schwaner was 2-for-4 on the night. 3B Robby Kuzdale singled in a run later in the inning to give the T-Bones the lead and DH David Espinosa – who had a team-high three hits and three RBI in the contest – tripled in Kuzdale and 2B T.J. Mittelstaedt to cap off the rally. Mittelstaedt also had a productive night at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.

For the Canaries, LF Brandon Jones and CF Chris Valencia both went 3-for-4 with an RBI and DH Chris Duffy also added an RBI while going 2-for-4.

 

Laredo 8, Amarillo 5Box Score

Eight different Laredo Lemurs combined to rack up 15 hits as the Lemurs out-dueled the Amarillo Sox 8-5.

Laredo took the lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run from SS Devin Goodwin and never trailed in the contest. The Lemurs went on to score in both the second and the third innings and then again in the sixth and seventh. RF Denis Phipps set the pace offensively as he had a team-high four hits including his own solo home run. CF Nick Van Stratten also had a strong game as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Sox combined for ten hits of their own and were led by C Jeff Farnham who went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Lemurs starting pitcher Josh Strawn picked up the win as he tossed eight innings and allowed five runs on ten hits. Reliever Chad Povich earned the save.
