Winnipeg 6, Gary SouthShore 5 – Box
Despite being outhit 11-10, the Winnipeg Goldeyes managed to overpower the Gary SouthShore RailCats and grab a 6-5 victory. SS Tyler Kuhn, CF Reggie Abercrombie and DH Luis Allen all tallied two hits for the Goldeyes and helped power them to the win. Kuhn doubled for the 19th time of the season, Abbercrombie hit his 13th homer and scored three runs while Allen picked up an RBI out of the eight-spot in the lineup.
Fargo-Moorhead 9, St. Paul 4 – Box
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks used a six-run sixth inning to put themselves over the St. Paul Saints and pick up a 9-4 victory. 2B C.J. Retherford did a lot of damage for the RedHawks out of the three spot. He homered for the seventh time this season, drove in two runs and scored one as part of his 2-5 night. Fargo reliver Kevin Fuqua was tagged with the win after throwing 2.2 shutout innings. He didn’t allow a single hit while on the mound and worked around two walks.
Sioux Falls 8, Sioux City 6 – Box
The Sioux Falls Canaries were able to hold off the Sioux City Explorers despite a late rally in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. The Explorers scored five runs in those three innings but still fell short as the Canaries claimed an 8-6 win. Sioux Falls starter Kyle Vazquez got the win after tossing six innings of two-run ball. He struck out five Explorer batters and walked three while scattering six hits. Alan DeRatt picked up the save after shutting down Sioux City’s offense in a perfect ninth inning and preventing a comeback.
Wichita 8, Amarillo 2 – Box
The Wichita Wingnuts beat down the Amarillo Sox Saturday night 8-2. Wichita starter Jon Link went seven solid innings to get the win for the Wingnuts and surrendered just one run on the outing. He used 80 pitches to record a pair of strikeouts while allowing five hits to the Amarillo lineup. CF Brent Clevlen hit his ninth home run of the season out of the fifth spot in the lineup. He went 2-5 on the night with two runs and an RBI.
Lincoln 3, Kansas City 1 – Box
The Lincoln Saltdogs only scored three runs, but the pitching staff held the Kansas City T-Bones to just one and the Saltdogs picked up a 3-1 win. The pitching staff definitely led Lincoln in this one and that began with starting pitcher Zach Varce. Varce went six shutout innings for the Saltdogs and worked around three hits and three walks to keep the T-Bones at zero. Conor Spink and Marshall Schuler combined to throw the final three innings and gave up just one run in the process. They also struck out four batters and walked just one while closing out the game.
Grand Prairie 9, Laredo 6 – Box
The Grand Prairie AirHogs scored all nine of their runs in the first two innings and held on for the rest of the game to take down the Laredo Lemurs 9-6. The Grand Prairie offense was clicking all across the board with six different batters having multi-hit nights. The leaders offensively though were 2B Alex Nunez and CF/LF Madison Carter. Each player notched three hits on the night and the two combined to score three runs and go 6-11. Nunez picked up his ninth double of the year.
