WINGNUTS RALLY FROM 6-RUN DEFICIT IN WIN AGAINST SAINTS

Wichita 10, St. Paul 8 — Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts rallied for an 8-2 deficit to come back and snag a 10-8 win against the St. Paul Saints.

Heading into the top of the fifth, the Wingnuts trailed by six runs but Brennen Salgado cut that in half with a three-run home run. Wichita took the lead in the sixth as DH T.J. Mittelstaedt and 1B Matt Chavez hit back-to-back RBI singles and then both scored when C Martin Medina scored. Chavez added a solo home run in the top of the eighth.

For the game, the Wingnuts tallied 15 hits, including three from 3B Zack Cox and two each from five other batters. For St. Paul, 1B David Bergin went 3-for-5 for six RBI starting with a two-run home run in the first inning.

 

Sioux Falls 7, Sioux City 6 — Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries broke a 6-6 tie with a 1B Jake Taylor RBI single that scored CF Ethan Chapman in the bottom of the eighth and held on for a 7-6 win against the Sioux City Explorers.

That hit was Taylor’s only one of the night but Chapman had a busy game as he went 3-for-5 and scored three times. He also hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning. SS Blake Schmidt also homered for the Canaries in the inning to build a quick 4-0 lead. But the Explorers battled back to tie the score in the top of the eighth with a pair of unearned runs.

For the game, Schmit and DH J.C. Linares had two hits and for the Explorers, DH Levon Washington went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

 

Winnipeg 9, Fargo-Moorhead 6 — Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes racked up nine runs on 13 hits as they moved past the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 9-6.

Both 1B 1B David Rohm and RF Josh Romanski had three hits in the game to pace the Goldeyes and Rohm added a team-high three RBI. Rohm blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth just two at-bats after CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run shot of his own. 3B Wes Darvill and 2B Casio Grider added a pair of hits for the Goldeyes as well and Grider also had a home run in the game.

For the RedHawks, DH K.D. Kang and C Charlie Valerio each hit two-run home runs.

 

Laredo 3, Kansas City 0 – Suspended 3rd inning/Rain

The game between the Laredo Lemurs and the Kansas City T-Bones was suspended by rain in the third inning with the Lemurs leading 3-0. The game will resume tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 25, at 5:05 p.m. Central Time. Thursday’s regularly scheduled game will follow and will be seven innings.
