TEN-RUN FOURTH INNING PROPELS GOLDEYES TO WIN

Winnipeg 14, Fargo-Moorhead 4 – Box

Winnipeg scored 10 big runs in the fourth inning to blow open a close game and beat Fargo-Moorhead by the score of 14-4. The Goldeyes collected 12 hits in the contest and was led by 3B Wes Darvill who went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Winnipeg 2B Casio Grider hit a double, scored twice and drove in three runs with SS Maikol Gonzalez drawing three walks and plating a pair of runs. Goldeyes hurler Duke Von Schamann notched the win and improved his record to 8-6 on the season. Von Schamann gave up two earned runs on six hits in eight innings of work. Third baseman Josh Mazzola had a 3-for-3 night with a home run and three runs scored in the loss for the RedHawks.

Laredo 3, Kansas City 0 (Completion of Suspended Game from August 24) – Box

Laredo pitcher Zach Dodson tossed six shutout innings of relief in leading the Lemurs to a 3-0 win over Kansas City in the completion of the suspended game from yesterday. Dodson, who came in for starter Gabe Perez when play resumed, threw 85 pitches and allowed only a hit and two walks while striking out eight batters. The southpaw earned the victory and is now 2-1 on the season. Offensively for Laredo, 3B Abel Nieves and SS Alvaro Rondon each had a hit and drove in a run while DH Ty Morrison collected a pair of walks and a run scored. The Lemurs plated two runs in the second inning and one in the third.

Laredo 4, Kansas City 2 (Regularly Scheduled Game/7 Innings) – Box

After three scoreless innings, Laredo scored four runs in fourth inning to grab a 4-0 lead and would go from there to a 4-2 victory over Kansas City in the regularly scheduled game. Lemurs CF Brennan Metzger went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI while C Zane Chavez added a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Laredo starting pitcher Troy Marks threw five shutout innings and earned his sixth win. Marks gave up a walk and six hits to go along with eight punchouts. For Kansas City in the losing effort, RF Dalton Wheat had a 2-for-4 night with two RBI.

Gary SouthShore 9, Lincoln 1 – Box

Gary SouthShore jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings of play and would never look back as they beat Lincoln, 9-1. The RailCats had 13 hits in the game and was led by SS Jarred Mederos who went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Gary SouthShore LF Reggie Wilson added a home run, two runs scored and three RBI while 3B Elbert Devarie had a 2-for-4 night and plated two runs. RailCats starting Charle Rosario won his third straight decision and is now 10-3 on the year. Rosario gave up an earned run on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings pitched. With the victory, Gary SouthShore is now only ½ game out of first place in the Central Division.

Sioux Falls 12, Sioux City 8 – Box

Trailing 7-4 after 5 ½ innings of play, Sioux Falls scored eight runs over the next three frames and defeated Sioux City by a 12-8 final. Canaries CF Ethan Chapman led the offensive charge as he went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and a RBI. Sioux Falls DH Jake Taylor launched a three-run home run and drove in four while RF J.C. Linares collected three RBI and scored a run in a 2-for-5 night. Canaries pitcher Josh Ferrell threw 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to grab the victory and go to 3-1 on the year. With the loss by Sioux City and the victory by Gary SouthShore, the Explorers, RailCats and Lincoln Saltdogs are all now separated by just a game in the Central Division.
