Gary SouthShore 6, Lincoln 5 – Box

Gary SouthShore scored two runs in eighth inning and one more in the ninth to rally from a 5-3 deficit and beat Lincoln by the score of 6-5. The RailCats had 14 hits in the game with four batters collecting at least two. Gary SouthShore 1B Alex Crosby went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI while DH Frank Martinez and 3B Elbert Devarie each had two hits and scored a run. RailCats pitcher Santiago Rodriguez threw 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts to pick up his sixth victory of the year. With the win, Gary SouthShore had now pulled to within 1 1/2 games of Lincoln in the race for the Central Division.

Joplin 5, Texas 1 (Completion of Suspended Game from August 23 – 7 Innings) – Box

The Joplin Blasters scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead and would go on from there to beat Texas, 5-1 in the completion of the suspended game from yesterday. Joplin 1B Edwin Gomez led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. Blasters SS Alex Polston collected two hits and plated a run while leadoff hitter Mitch Glasser chipped in with a double and two runs scored. Joplin starting pitcher Mario Morales tossed five solid innings and earned his second win of the season. Morales allowed an earned run on two hits and struck out four batters.

Texas 9, Joplin 6 (11 Innings – Regularly Scheduled Game) – Box

Texas RF Cody Lenahan blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the AirHogs a 9-6 walk-off win over Joplin. Lenahan had a monster game at the plate as he went 5-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI. Texas SS Juan Sanchez had two hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored and two RBI while 2B Brian Bistagne added three hits, scored a run and drove in one. AirHogs pitcher Jack Karraker tossed a scoreless inning of relief to notch the win and improve his record to 1-1 on the year. For Joplin in the losing effort, SS Alex Polston had a 3-for-5 game with four RBI.
