WINGNUTS EDGE GOLDEYES FOR 46TH WIN OF SEASON

Wichita 3, Winnipeg 1 – Box

After falling behind 1-0 to the Goldeyes in the first inning, the Wingnuts exploded for a three-run eighth inning to earn their 46th win of the season. SS Leo Vargas had a strong game in the win, as he picked up a hit, scored once and drove in a run. 2B Christian Stringer also picked up a RBI in the win, as he raised his average to .296. RHP Jordan Cooper went seven strong innings, allowing a run on five hits and striking out four batters to pick up his sixth win of the year. RHP Ryan Kussmaul earned the save, allowing a hit and striking out two batters in the process. The save was his first of the season in 15 appearances.

Cleburne 6, Texas 3 – Box

The Railroaders outlasted the Airhogs in a hectic affair that saw neither team score until the sixth inning when the Airhogs took a 1-0 lead. The Railroaders scored three runs each in the seventh and eighth innings to take a commanding 6-1 lead en route to their 35th win of the year. CF K.C. Huth had a big night, exploding for four RBIs and collecting two hits in the winning effort. His four RBIs provided adequate run support for RHP Dylan Mouzakes. Mouzakes (4-3) allowed a run on five hits in six innings of work while striking out seven batters. RHP Winston Abreu earned the save, as he picked up the final two outs for his 17th save of the season.

Kansas City 6, Salina 3 – Box

The T-Bones took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and then erupted for three runs in the third inning en route to a 6-3 victory. 1B Kevin Keyes provided the big bat in the inning, blasting a two-run shot to make it a 4-0 lead. The long ball was his 22nd of the year, and he also picked up his 70th RBI in the win. CF Kyle Petty also homered in the win, hitting his eighth long ball of the year. RHP Matt Sergey went seven innings in the win, as he allowed three runs on five hits, and struck out seven batters to earn his fourth win of the year. RHP Cody Winiarski pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 16th save of the season.

St Paul 10, Sioux Falls 5 – Box

The Saints and Canaries traded blows in the first inning, as each team scored two runs before the Canaries took a 4-2 lead after four innings. The Canaries tied the game in the fifth before the Saints exploded for four runs to take an 8-4 lead en route to the victory. C Tanner Lubach collected his first two home runs of the season in the win, and also contributed two hits for the Saints. 3B Nate Hanson also homered in the victory, hitting his 12th long ball of the season. RHP Brandon Peterson picked up his fourth win of the season, pitching two scoreless innings in relief while striking out two batters.

Sioux City 6, Lincoln 4 (Final – 12 innings) – Box

The Explorers outlasted the Saltdogs in a game that went to extra innings on Friday night. The teams were tied at four until extras when the Explorers scored two runs in the 12th inning to win their 40th win of the season and their third straight game. DH LeVon Washington was the hero, as he blasted a two-run shot in the 12th to give the Explorers a two-run lead in their eventual victory. It was his eighth home run of the season. RHP Keith Picht pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the season. RHP P.J. Francescon earned the save, his 16th save of the year.

Gary Southshore 4, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box

The Railcats picked up their 42nd win of the season on Friday night, as they outlasted the Redhawks 4-2. RHP Jorge De Leon pitched the final two innings to earn his seventh save of the season, as he struck out two batters and allowed two hits. The Railcats took a 1-0 lead in the first and neither team scored again until the fourth inning when the Railcats added three more runs to take a commanding 4-0 lead en route to the two-run victory. CF Chase Harris had a strong night, collecting a hit in two at-bats and driving in a run. RHP Daniel Minor picked up the win in his Railcats debut, as he went three scoreless innings and allowed a hit while striking out two batters.
