WINGNUTS CRUISE TO THEIR 30th WIN OF SEASON

Wichita 7, Cleburne 1 – Box 

The Wingnuts won their 30th game of the season on Saturday, improving their red-hot record to 30-12. They scored five runs in the first four innings, with the big play coming on a two-run single from DH Brent Clevlen, putting the Wingnuts up 5-1. The two RBIs put him to 36 on the season. The Wingnuts scored two more runs in the eighth inning, as they went on to win 7-1. RHP Alex Boshers won his sixth game of the year, going seven innings, allowing a run on six hits and striking out five.

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Lincoln 2 – Box

The Redhawks scored three runs in the first two innings, which proved to be the difference on Saturday, as they defeated the Saltdogs 4-2. Two RBI singles from DH Vaughn Bryan and LF Chris Grayson put the Redhawks ahead 3-0 after a wild pitch scored Grayson for a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. The Saltdogs climbed back, scoring two runs in the third inning, but failed to get any closer as the Redhawks added another run in the fourth en route to their 22nd win of the year. Grayson was 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored in the victory. LHP Will Solomon pitched his first complete game of the season, earning the victory. Solomon (3-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out six.

Winnipeg 5, Sioux Falls 4 – Box

The Goldeyes rode a three-run first inning to a 3-0 lead, as they went on to win their 21st game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Canaries struck back for four runs in the second and third innings, with the Canaries moving ahead on a two-run home run from LF Burt Reynolds. The Goldeyes tied it in the fifth inning on an error, with LF Josh Romanski crossing the plate. Romanski then struck again in the seventh inning, knocking in the go-ahead run on sacrifice fly. The Goldeyes bullpen held the slim lead over the next two innings, as RHP Ryan Chaffee pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 12th save of the year. RHP Edwin Carl went seven innings to earn the win, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out eight batters.

Kansas City 6, Sioux City 2 – Box

The T-Bones jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning as 2B Patrick Brady knocked in a run with a RBI single. C Leonardo Rojas added another RBI single to make it a 2-0 lead. In the third, DH Marcus Lemon hit a solo shot to make it 3-0. The blast was his fourth of the season. Rojas hit the only other long ball of the game, hitting his fifth home run in the fourth to make it 4-0. The T-Bones held a 6-0 lead in the sixth when the Explorers got two runs back. However, they were unable to score again as the T-Bones won 6-2. RHP Scott Carroll won his fourth game of the year, going seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out ten batters.

Gary SouthShore 4, St. Paul 3 – Box

The RailCats scored all four runs in the first five innings and kept the Saints at bay just enough to pull out a road victory. 2B John Holland opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second, and C James Alfonso drove in two more in the third. 1B Frank Martinez hit a fifth-inning RBI single for Gary SouthShore’s final run. RF Collin Willis had three hits for the RailCats, finishing 3-for-5.

RHP Charle Rosario struck out eight in eight innings for the win.

St. Paul CF Kes Carter hit a three-run home run in the loss.

Salina at Texas – Postponed

The game between the Stockade and Airhogs was postponed due to rain. The two clubs will meet for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 4:05 p.m. at Airhog Stadium.
