ABERCROMBIE KNOCKS IN THREE IN GOLDEYES WIN

Goldeyes

Winnipeg 6, Sioux Falls 0 – Box

The Goldeyes won their third straight game on Sunday, beating the Canaries 6-0 to earn the series sweep, thanks to a three-RBI day from CF Reggie Abercrombie and a complete game shutout from LHP Kevin McGovern. Abercrombie knocked in two runs in the first inning with a double, his fifth of the year, to put the Goldeyes up 2-0. In the fourth, DH David Bergin hit his seventh home run of the season, knocking a solo shot into the bleachers to extend the lead to three. Abercrombie then picked up his third RBI of the day in the fifth, extending the lead to 4-0, as the Goldeyes gave McGovern two more insurance runs in the seventh. McGovern (6-2) dominated the Canaries, blanking them over nine innings, allowing two hits and three walks and striking out nine batters. He lowered his ERA to 2.53 in the process, good for third-best in the league.
