Kansas City 4, Lincoln 3- Box

The T-Bones scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and held on to beat the Saltdogs 4-3. 2B Brett Wiley (pictured) hit a solo home run with one out in the ninth, his fourth hit of the night. Wiley fell just a triple shy of the cycle in the contest. He collected a pair of RBI singles earlier in the contest, one in the first and another in the fifth. LF Tyson Gillies and C Steve Swingle had two hits each in the victory as well.

LHP Evan DeLuca worked an inning in relief in the eighth to earn the win, and RHP Mark Haynes saved his 12th game with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

Lincoln CF Robby Kuzdale and 1B Rene Leveret had two hits apiece.

Sioux Falls 5, Fargo-Moorhead 4- Box

DH David Bergin drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to give the Canaries a 5-4 walk-off win over the RedHawks. Sioux Falls’ walk-off gave Shelby Ford a win in his debut as the Canaries’ interim manager. The walk-off was only necessary after the RedHawks scored a run in the top of the ninth to tie the game. All four prior Canaries runs had scored in the third inning. After an error and a bases-loaded walk scored the inning’s first two runs, Bergin hit a sacrifice fly and 3B Ozney Guillen laced an RBI single.

Offensively, SS B.J. Guinn led Sioux Falls with three hits. RHP Madison Boer worked the ninth for the Canaries, picking up the win.

For Fargo-Moorhead, LF Brian Humphries hit his 10th home run of the season, a two-run blast in the fifth.

Gary SouthShore 3, Laredo 2- Box

C Jose Gonzalez hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the RailCats a 3-2 win over the Lemurs. Tied 2-2 heading to the bottom of the ninth, 1B Alex Crosby was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Gonzalez stepped up and laced a double to score Crosby and end the game. CF Anthony Cheky drove in Gary SouthShore’s first run in the sixth on an RBI triple. He would score on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0 before Laredo scored single runs in the seventh and eighth.

Gonzalez was the lone RailCat with two hits in the win. LHP Andy Roberts tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief for the win.

LF Leandro Castro 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Lemurs.

Winnipeg 7, St. Paul 1- Box

Goldeyes RHP Edwin Carl allowed just one hit in 6.2 innings, and a pair of relievers — LHP Kyle Anderson and RHP Brandon Shimo — finished off the team one-hitter in a 7-1 win over the Saints. Offensively, a four-run fourth pushed the Goldeyes over the top. Already up 2-0, LF Adam Heisler hit an RBI double for the inning’s first run, and SS Maikol Gonzalez followed with a sacrifice fly. Heisler scored on an RBI double by RF David Rohm. CF Reggie Abercrombie, the American Association Player of the Week, drove in the final run of the inning on an RBI single.

Heisler and Abercrombie both checked in with two-hit games in the Goldeyes’ win.

C Aaron Gretz hit an RBI double in the fifth for St. Paul’s only run.

Wichita 6, Texas 4- Box

Three first-inning runs for the Wingnuts paved the way for a 6-4 win over the AirHogs. 1B Matt Chavez and C Martin Medina hit back-to-back RBI singles in the frame, and RF Richard Prigatano followed with a sacrifice fly. 2B Christian Stringer added two more runs on a two-RBI double in the fourth. DH Brent Clevlen, an American Association All-Star pick, drove in the last run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Chavez and Medina each had two-hit games for Wichita in the win.

RHP Eddie Medina struck out two in five innings of relief work for the win for Wichita. The save went to RHP Chad Nading, who tossed a scoreless ninth.

For Texas, All-Star LF Burt Reynolds hit his league-leading 19th home run, a two-run blast in the eighth.

Sioux City 10, Joplin 2- Box

With five runs in the first three innings, the Explorers rolled past the Blasters 10-2. SS Nate Samson scored Sioux City’s first run in the first inning on an error, and LF Derrick Robinson hit an RBI single to put Sioux City up for good in the second. Samson led off the third with a solo home run, the first in a three-run third. Two more runs scored in the seventh, and 3B Tommy Mendonca added two more runs with a two-RBI double in the eighth, and 2B Jarek Cunningham drove in the last run with an RBI single later in the frame.

Cunningham and Mendonca had two RBI apiece, while four Explorers — Samson, Mendonca, Cunningham and CF Tim Colwell— had a three-hit game. LHP Cody Forsythe struck out six in six innings to earn the win for the Explorers.

For Joplin, CF Sean Smith and DH Geraldo Valentin each hit solo home runs.
