NORTH ALL-STARS ANNOUNCED

St Paul All Star

DURHAM, N.C.- The host St. Paul Saints will have the chance to honor five All-Stars, the highest of any team feeding the American Association’s North All-Stars for the 2016 American Association All-Star Game. The North All-Stars will face the South All-Stars in the August 2 game at CHS Field, home of the St. Paul Saints. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. Central time, and the game will air on Fox Sports Midwest Plus.

The North team is comprised of All-Stars representing the eight teams in the American Association’s North and Central divisions — the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Sioux Falls Canaries, St. Paul Saints and Winnipeg Goldeyes of the North division, and the Gary SouthShore RailCats, Kansas City T-Bones, Lincoln Saltdogs, and Sioux City Explorers of the Central division.

Starters were selected through a vote of managers within the divisions, while reserves and pitchers were selected by Steve Montgomery, manager of the Sioux City Explorers and manager of the North All-Stars.

The North All-Stars are listed below:

Starters

First Baseman: Angelo Songco, St. Paul Saints

-Batting .294 with nine doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 35 RBI

Second Baseman: Tony Thomas, St. Paul Saints

-Batting .305 with 16 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs and 43 RBI

The North All-Stars will face the South All-Stars. The South All-Star team is composed of the four members of the American Association’s South division — the Joplin Blasters, Laredo Lemurs, Texas AirHogs and Wichita Wingnuts. The South All-Star team will also include representatives from the six-team Can-Am League. The Can-Am League is composed of the New Jersey Jackals, Ottawa Champions, Quebec Capitales, Rockland Boulders, Sussex County Miners and Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
