WICHITA RALLIES LATE TO WIN EIGHTH IN A ROW

Wichita 11, Gary SouthShore 9 – Box

Wichita scored six runs over the final three innings to overcome an 8-5 deficit and beat Gary SouthShore by an 11-9 score. The Wingnuts have now won eight games in a row and lead the South Division by four games over the Laredo Lemurs. Wichita 3B Zack Cox went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI while 2B Christian Stringer had two hits and scored three times. Wingnuts 1B Matt Chavez added two hits, a run scored and three RBI. Wichita pitcher Chase Johnson threw 1 1/3 innings of relief and nabbed his third win. Johnson gave up two earned runs on a hit. For the RailCats in defeat, SS Jarred Mederos hit a sixth inning grand slam.

Fargo-Moorhead 8, St. Paul 1 – Box

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rolled out to a 5-0 lead after three innings of play and cruised to an 8-1 victory over the St. Paul Saints. Fargo-Moorhead CF Kes Carter led the way offensively going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. RedHawks 2B Ryan Pineda went 2-for-4 with a run scored while SS Bryan Johns collected a pair of hits and drove in a run. Fargo-Moorhead Tyler Alexander tossed eight solid innings in earning his seventh win of the season. Alexander gave up an earned run on three hits and struck out 10 batters.

Texas 9, Laredo 4 – Box

Texas scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to blow open a tight game and beat the Laredo Lemurs by a 9-4 score. Eight of the nine batters in the AirHogs lineup collected at least a hit and scored a run. Texas 1B Devon Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI while SS Juan Sanchez had two hits in four at-bats along with scoring a run and driving in one. Texas starting pitcher Sam Martin picked up the win and improved his mark to 3-3 on the season. Martin allowed two earned runs on five hits in six innings pitched.

Lincoln 12, Joplin 5 – Box

Lincoln plated six big runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie and beat the Joplin Blasters going away, 12-5. The Saltdogs had 15 hits in the contest with everyone in the lineup collecting at least one. Lincoln 3B Luis Alen had a tremendous night going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Saltdogs C Ryan Wiggins drove in four runs and CF Austin Darby and LF Brandon Jacobs each had two hits and scored three runs. Lincoln starter Ryan O’Sullivan tossed six innings and picked-up his second victory of the year. O’Sullivan gave up five earned runs on 10 hits.

Kansas City 7, Sioux City 5 – Box

The Kansas City T-Bones scored four runs in the third inning to take control of the game and beat the Sioux City Explorers by a 7-5 final. Kansas City 2B Brett Wiley was the star offensively going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and four RBI. T-Bones C Brian Erie had three hits and three RBI with LF Starlin Rodriguez collecting two hits and plating a run. Kansas City starting pitcher Jared Messer notched the win and improved his record to a perfect 3-0 on the season. Messer gave up four earned runs on six hits and fanned three batters.

Sioux Falls 18, Winnipeg 9 – Box

After falling behind 4-0 through one inning of play, the Sioux Falls Canaries tallied 11 runs over the next two innings and cruised to an 18-9 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. This contest was a true slugfest as both teams combined for 27 runs on 30 hits, including eight home runs. Sioux Falls RF J.C. Linares had a monster game going 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI. The Canaries 3-4 hitters of 1B Jake Taylor and DH David Bergin went a combined 5-for-8 at the plate with two home runs, six runs scored and six RBI. Sioux Falls pitcher Dylan Badura tossed 3 1/3 innings of relief to collect the win. Badura gave up three earned runs on four hits with a strikeout. For Winnipeg, 2B Casio Grider went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.
