EIGHT-RUN SEVENTH PROPELS WINNIPEG TO VICTORY

Winnipeg 10, Sioux Falls 4 – Box

Winnipeg scored eight big runs in the seventh inning to overcome a 4-0 deficit and beat the Sioux Falls Canaries by a 10-4 score. Winnipeg 2B Casio Grider and RF David Rohm accounted for seven of the eight runs in the seventh as Grider hit a three-run home run and Rohm followed that up with a grand slam. Goldeyes 1B Jacob Rogers went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI and LF Willie Cabrera added three hits and scored a run. Winnipeg pitcher Kyle Lotzkar tossed a scoreless sixth inning to collect his first victory.

Lincoln 4, Joplin 1 – Box

Lincoln starting pitcher Casey Barnes tossed seven shutout innings in leading the Saltdogs to a 4-1 win over the Joplin Blasters. Barnes notched his first win with Lincoln as he gave up three walks and five hits while striking out four batters. Offensively for the Saltdogs, DH Curt Smith went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while LF Brandon Jacobs collected three hits and a RBI. Lincoln leadoff hitter Robby Kuzdale also chipped in with two runs and two stolen bases. The Saltdogs scored single runs in the third and seventh innings before scoring a pair in the ninth.

Kansas City 4, Sioux City 3 – Box

The Kansas City T-Bones scored a run in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead and would go on to a 4-3 victory over the Sioux City Explorers.  T-Bones 2B Brett Wiley went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while LF Starlin Rodriguez picked-up two hits and drove in a run. Kansas City starting pitcher David Holman tossed five innings en route to his third win of the season. Holman allowed two earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. For Sioux City in defeat, 1B Ralph Henriquez had a 2-for-4 game with a ninth inning solo home run.

Laredo 15, Texas 6 – Box

It was all Laredo in this one as the Lemurs rolled to a 15-6 victory over the Texas AirHogs. Laredo scored six runs in the second inning, one in the third and three more in the fourth to jump out to a 10-2 lead and would never look back. The Lemurs collected 13 hits in the contest with eight of the nine batters picking up at least one. Laredo 3B Cesar Valera went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI while LF Ty Morrison had two hits in four at-bats along with two RBI and three runs scored. Lemurs starter Troy Marks notched his second win as he went 5 1/3 innings giving up five earned runs on seven hits. Texas made eight errors in the contest tonight.

St. Paul 3, Fargo-Moorhead 1 – Box

St. Paul starting pitcher Eric Veglahn threw 7 2/3 innings of solid baseball in leading the Saints to a 3-1 win over Fargo-Moorhead. Veglahn earned his first victory as he allowed an earned run on three hits to go along with four strikeouts. St. Paul leadoff hitter Alonzo Harris led the way offensively as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Saints 3B Nate Hanson added a two-run double in the fifth inning and RF Brady Burzynski had a 1-for-4 game and plated a run. RedHawks LF Brian Humphries accounted for the team’s lone run with a solo home run in the eighth.

Wichita 8, Gary SouthShore 2 – Box

Wichita continues to stay red hot as they win their seventh in a row in an 8-2 victory over Gary SouthShore. The Wingnuts had to overcome a 2-1 deficit late as they scored two runs in the seventh inning and five more in the eighth.  Wichita 3B Zack Cox had a terrific night at the plate going 3-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI. Wingnuts DH Brent Clevlen and C Brent Dean each collected three hits and 2B Christian Stringer tallied two runs. Wichita pitcher Jesse Pratt threw four innings of relief to nab his third win. Pratt allowed two earned runs on five hits and fanned three batters.
