A strong weather system moved through a large portion of the Midwest on Thursday night, allowing for only two games to be played as scheduled.
Chicago 5 Fargo-Moorhead 1
A pair of early solo home runs and a quality start led the Dogs (5-4) to a 5-1 win over the RedHawks (5-4) on Thursday night at Newman Outdoor Field. Danny Mars homered in the first to open the scoring and Johnny Adams broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning with a solo shot of his own before Chicago scored three runs, all on wild pitches, in the eighth inning to add to the lead. The early run support was enough for starter Garrett Christman (6 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K). Manuel Boscan had a hit and run batted in for Fargo-Moorhead.
Lincoln 11 Cleburne 10
Three big innings were the difference Thursday night at Haymarket Park as the Saltdogs (5-3) edged the Railroaders (4-5) in a slugfest by an 11-10 score. In the third inning, Josh Altmann drove home Ryan Long with a single before an Edgar Corcino double scored two to give Lincoln the lead. In the sixth inning, Curt Smith drove home two with a double and later scored on a Patrick Adams single, and in the seventh Smith launched a two-run homer. Corcino also homered for the Saltdogs, while Ramon Hernandez, Noah Vaughan, and Hunter Clanin all homered for Cleburne.
