DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Gary SouthShore RailCats’ RHP Karl Triana (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 5th.
On June 2, Triana threw the first no-hitter in RailCats’ history as Gary SouthShore defeated Kansas City 1-0. In the outing, Triana logged his second victory of the year, striking out three hitters in nine innings while only walking four. The Cartagena, Columbia native’s phenomenal performance set the stage for the bottom of the ninth where the RailCats’ would walk-off on pinch hitter EJ Devarie’s RBI single.
From 2011-2013, Triana pitched in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. 2016 is Triana’s first year with Gary SouthShore. His first victory with the club came back on May 29 in a 7-6 win over the Joplin Blasters where he allowed three earned runs over six innings.
Gary SouthShore will be back in action tonight when they host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 7:10 PM from U.S. Steel Yard. The RailCats are currently 9-9. Fans can watch select American Association games live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
