TAYLOR, AIRHOGS OUTLAST CANARIES ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Texas 6, Sioux Falls 3 – Box

The Airhogs came from behind to win their second straight game and 28th of the season on Saturday night. The Airhogs and Canaries both scored a run in the first inning and then the Canaries took a 3-2 lead in the second after a sacrifice fly and an error. However, a four-run third inning propelled the Airhogs to a three-run lead which they would not relinquish. LHP Michael Freeman pitched seven innings to get the victory, as he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and struck out four batters. RHP Robert Tasin earned the save, his first of the season. 1B Jake Taylor starred in the win, as he collected three hits and drove in two runs.

Winnipeg 6, Gary Southshore 5 (Final – 10 innings) – Box

The Goldeyes snuck past the Railcats on Saturday night, as they won in extra innings thanks to a sacrifice fly from 1B Shawn Pleffner. Pleffner finished the game with four RBIs and hit his sixth home run of the season in the win. CF Reggie Abercrombie collected three hits, scored twice and drove in a run in the victory. RHP Ryan Chaffee pitched two innings, allowed three runs on four hits and struck out four batters, but managed to win his third game of the year.

Wichita 5, Sioux City 1 – Box

The Wingnuts took a 3-0 lead in the second en route to a 5-1 victory over the Explorers. RF Richard Prigatano went 2-4 in the victory and collected two RBIs in the Wingnuts 44th win of the year. LF Brennan Salgado tripled, collected two hits and drove in two runs for the Wingnuts. C Tyler Ogle collected two hits and homered in the loss. RHP Alex Boshers pitched eight one-run innings in the win. Boshers (10-2) allowed four hits and struck out seven in the win.

Salina 2, Cleburne 0 – Box

The Stockade won its second game in a row on Saturday night, shutting out the Railroaders by a score of 2-0. LHP Troy Mannebach pitched 6.2 shutout innings in the win, as he allowed six hits, walked two batters and struck out one. CF Roche Woodard was the hero, hitting his fifth home run of the season in the victory. Woodard also collected two hits in the win. C Jesse Baker went 3-4 in the win. RHP Tyler Herr pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and allowed a hit while striking out two batters. Herr earned his fifth save of the year.

Lincoln 6, Kansas City 3 – Box

The T-Bones took a 3-0 lead in the third inning before the Saltdogs stormed back to score six straight runs to beat the T-Bones on Saturday night. RF Randolph Oduber knocked in two runs in the win, and also collected a hit for the Saltdogs. DH Curt Smith had the other multi-RBI game for the Saltdogs, also collecting a hit and plating two runs. CF Cedric Hunter homered in the loss, hitting his third long ball of the season. RHP Derek Gordon earned the victory, pitching 5.1 innings of three-run ball. Gordon also struck out ten batters in his eighth win of the year. RHP Michael Wagner earned his 14th save of the year by pitching a scoreless ninth.

St Paul 12, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box

The Saints easily defeated the Redhawks on Saturday night, as they won their 37th game of the season. LF Tim Colwell led the way, as he collected two hits, scored twice and plated two runs for the Saints. 2B Tony Thomas also had a strong night and he contributed three hits while knocking in two runs. RHP Benji Waite pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits while striking out three batters in the win. LHP Jeff Malm pitched four scoreless innings in relief to earn his first save of the year.
