Fargo-Moorhead 6, St Paul 5 – Box

After falling behind 5-2 after five innings, the Redhawks scored four runs in the seventh and eighth innings on the way to a narrow 6-5 win over the Saints on Friday night. Three players hit home runs in the one-run win, including 3B Josh Mazzola. Mazzola collected on a solo shot for his tenth home run of the season. 2B Brandon Tierney also hit a home run in the win, as he collected on a two-run blast to tie the game in the seventh. The Saints hit two long balls in the loss, including a solo shot from SS J.J. Gould. It was Gould’s first home run of the year. RHP Trey McNutt picked up the win in relief, as he pitched two scoreless innings and struck out four batters for his first win of the season. RHP Casey Weathers picked up two strikeouts to earn his 14th save of the year.

Winnipeg 9, Gary Southshore 4 (Completion of suspended game from August 3) – Box

In a completion of a game that was suspended on Thursday, August 3 due to rain, the Goldeyes knocked off the Railcats 9-4. It was the sixth win in a row for the ball club and their 41st win on the season. 1B Shawn Pleffner was the leading man in the victory, collecting four hits and knocking in four runs. 3B Wes Darvill also knocked in multiple runs and connected on his fourth home run of the season in the win. LHP Kenny Mathews picked up the win in relief to notch his third victory. Mathews allowed a run in 2.1 innings. He also struck out two batters and allowed two hits.

Gary Southshore 6, Winnipeg 2 (Final – 7 innings) – Box

The Railcats topped the Wingnuts on Friday night to take the second game in the series after falling 9-4 in the first outing. DH Frank Martinez provided the big bat in the win, as he collected three RBIs and scored a run. CF Chase Harris collected the only other RBI on the night, as he also collected a hit and scored once. The Railcats took a 5-1 lead after three innings en route to their 40th win of the year. LHP Jeff McKenzie pitched five two-run innings to earn the win. McKenzie allowed five hits, walked two and struck out one for his first win of the year.

Texas 10, Sioux Falls 4 – Box

The Airhogs scored seven runs over the first four innings en route to a six-run victory on Friday night. 3B Denis Phipps carried the big stick in the win, as he collected two home runs on the night. Phipps contributed three hits, scored twice and knocked in four runs. 3B Caslo Grider also helped carry the load, as he contributed two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. 2B Alvaro Rondon had four hits in the victory and scored once. RHP T. J. Bozeman pitched seven two-run innings to earn his fourth victory of the year. Bozeman allowed two hits and struck out nine batters.

Kansas City 9, Lincoln 2 – Box

The T-Bones used a nine-run outing to take out the American Association’s top team on Friday night, as they beat the Saltdogs by seven runs to earn their 41st win of the year. A five-run sixth inning propelled the T-Bones to a 9-0 lead in the route. 3B Marcus Lemon and LF Kyle Petty both had multi-RBI games in the victory, as Lemon collected three hits and drove in two runs and Petty collected two hits while also knocking in two runs. Five other players collected RBIs in the win, and RHP Scott Carroll gave his bullpen some rest by tossing eight two-run innings. Carroll (7-3) allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven in the win.

Salina 6, Cleburne 2 – Box

The Stockade scored six runs over the first five innings to win easily over the Railroaders in the series opener on Friday night. DH Jonathan Moroney and C Cody Coffman combined on back-to-back solo shots in the third inning to give the Stockade a 3-0 lead in the eventual victory. Moroney also scored twice on the night and Coffman drove in two runs in the win. 1B Kewby Meyer also knocked in two runs in the win, and he collected two hits for the Stockade. RHP Josh Hodges pitched seven one-run innings to earn the victory. Hodges (3-3) allowed six hits, walked a batter and struck out three.

Sioux City 9, Wichita 8 – Box

The Explorers edged the Wingnuts in a back-and-forth affair on Friday night to win their 35th game of the year. After the Wingnuts tied the game at eight in the ninth inning, DH LeVon Washington responded for the Explorers by hitting a walk-off RBI double in the bottom half of the inning. Washington also scored a run in the victory. C Tyler Ogle carried the big bat in the win, as he collected three hits and knocked in two runs. 3B Eudor Garcia also had a big day at the plate, as he collected two hits and scored twice. RHP P.J. Francescon gave up the tying run in the ninth inning but was saved by his offense as he picked up the win in relief. He allowed a run on three hits and struck out one to earn his third win.
