T-BONES WALK OFF WITH GILLIES’ BLAST

Kansas City 4, Lincoln 3 — Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones erased a three-run deficit in the final two innings and walked off on the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-3.

The T-Bones were trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before 2B Brett Wiley singled home SS Vladimir Frias and then Wiley scored as well as CF Tyler Massey on a single from 1B Jake Blackwood. That tied the score heading into the final frame, setting the stage for LF Tyson Gillies who promptly hit a lead-off home run to give his team a walk-off win.

Gillies’ blast was his fourth of the year and his second hit of the game. Wiley also had a two-hit game for the T-Bones while three different Saltdogs had two-hit games.

Fargo-Moorhead 1, Wichita 0 — Box Score

Fargo-Moorhead SS Mike Gilmartin lifted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning and that proved to be enough as the RedHawks edged the Wichita Wingnuts 1-0.

Wichita had just four hits in the game – two each from DH. T.J. Mittelstaedt and 1B Matt Chavez – thanks to the efforts of the RedHawks’ pitching staff. Starting pitcher Jose Almarante earned the win for working eight innings and allowing three hits while striking out seven batters. Reliever Colton Reavis picked up the save for tossing the ninth and giving up just one hit.

Martin’s solo shot was his third home run of the season. Wichita’s starter Todd Kibby took the hard luck loss after throwing seven innings and allowing the one run on five hits while striking out six batters.

 

Sioux City 6, Joplin 4 — Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers scored a pair of runs in the final two innings to slide past the Joplin Blasters 6-4.

The score was tied at 4-4 before 3B Tommy Mendonca gave his team the lead with an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning. DH LeVon Washington added an insurance run in the top of the ninth with a single that plated RF Michael Lang. Washington, as well as SS Nate Samson and CF Tim Colwell, had two hits in the game.

For the Blasters, 3B Brandon Tierney hit went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. 2B Mitch Glasser also had two hits in the game.

 

Laredo 4, Texas 1 — Box Score

The Laredo Lemurs wrapped up their three game sweep of the Texas AirHogs with a 4-1 win.

Seven different Lemurs registered hits in the game and three of them had multi-hit games. 3B Cesar Valera went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and both SS Alvaro Rondon and C Zane Chavez added a pair of hits. Rondon and LF Ty Morrison each had an RBI.

For the AirHogs, CF Juan Sanchez went 2-for-4 with his team’s lone RBI.
