T-BONES START FAST, TAKE ROAD WIN

Kansas City

Kansas City 7, Wichita 5- Box

Five runs in the first two innings gave the T-Bones an early advantage, and two more runs in the sixth provided the difference in a 7-5 road win over the Wingnuts. 1B Kevin Keyes hit a two run-home run in the first for the T-Bones, his 11th blast of the season, to put the T-Bones up 3-0. An inning later, 2B Marcus Lemon hit an RBI double for Kansas City, and would score himself on a Keyes RBI triple. 3B Jordan Edgerton, making his season debut for Kansas City, provided the necessary insurance with a two-run home run in the sixth.

Lemon led the way for Kansas City with three of his team’s 12 hits in the game. RHP Scott Carroll struck out six in seven innings of work to earn the win for the T-Bones, while RHP Cody Winiarski fanned two in a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.

Wichita 1B Matt Chavez was an impressive 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the loss.

St. Paul 8, Sioux City 1- Box

The Saints put up a four-spot in the first inning and never looked back, cruising past the Explorers to win a matchup of two teams in first place in their respective divisions by an 8-1 final. LF Anthony Gallas, the defending Pointstreak Player of the Week, opened the floodgates with a bases-clearing double to put the Saints up 3-0, and Gallas would score on a sacrifice fly from DH Tim Colwell. After scoring single runs in the fourth and sixth, the Saints put the wraps on victory with a two-RBI single from CF Breland Almadova in the eighth.

Eight of the nine Saints starters had a hit in the win, led by three from Colwell. RHP Ryan Zimmerman struck out four while allowing just one run over seven innings. He earned the win against his former team.
