T-BONES’ PITCHERS BLANK REDHAWKS ON OPENING NIGHT

Kansas City

Kansas City 3, Fargo-Moorhead 0- Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones blanked the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their opening game of the 2019 season on Friday.

SP Randall Delgado (1-0) allowed just three hits while walking one and striking out four in his scoreless four inning start for the T-Bones. RHP Marc Magliaro struck out four in his two innings of scoreless relief before turning the ball over to LHP Carlos Diaz who pitched a scoreless eighth. RHP Kevin Lenik finished the job, pitching a scoreless ninth to secure the shutout win and earn the save.

CF Darnell Sweeney hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to break the scoreless tie. LF Daniel Robertson hit a solo jack of his own in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 2-0 game and SS Shawn OMalley brought the game to its final score with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

SP Bradin Hagens was sharp in the loss for Fargo-Moorhead, giving up just two runs in seven innings of work.

 

Milwaukee 3, St. Paul 2- Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen picked up their second win in franchise history on Friday and remained undefeated after topping the St. Paul Saints in their second straight one-run game.

RF Teodoro Martinez gave the Milkmen a one run lead in the second at-bat of the game by doubling in CF Nolan Earley who reached on an error. Milwaukee expanded the lead when 1B Christ Conley hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth. The Saints managed to cut the deficit in half when 2B Josh Allen scored on an error in the following frame. St. Paul tied the game one inning later when Allen walked with the bases loaded. The Milkmen scored what proved to be the game-winning run on an RBI single by SS Sam Dexter in the top of the eighth.

RHP Krysten Johnson-Battilana (1-0) earned the win after tossing two scoreless innings of relief for Milwaukee. RHP Myles Smith earned the save after recording the game’s final out.

 

Winnipeg 7, Texas 1- Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes pulled away late to top the Texas AirHogs 7-1 on Friday night.

The Goldeyes broke open a 1-1 tie with a three-run top of the sixth that included RBI singles by 2B Alex Perez and C Luis Touron. Winnipeg added two runs in the top of the eighth with one coming on a balk and one coming on an RBI single by RF Willy Garcia. Perez picked up an RBI groundout in the top of the ninth to bring the game to its final score.

SP Mitch Lambson (1-0) allowed just one run and three hits in six innings to earn the win, striking out five and walking one in the process.

The AirHogs scored their lone run on an RBI single by 3B Luo Jinjun in the bottom of the fourth.

 

Sioux Falls 3, Cleburne 1- Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries downed the Cleburne Railroaders 3-1 on Friday night.

SP Sam Bragg (1-0) was commanding in the win, striking out seven while allowing just four hits and one run in six innings of work.

The Railroaders took a 1-0 lead on a 3B Chase Simpson RBI double in the bottom of the first. The Canaries managed to tie the game on an RBI single by DH Trae Santos in the top of the fourth. Sioux Falls scored their final two runs in the top of the seventh with one coming on a solo home run by LF Mike Hart and one coming on an RBI double by 3B Mitch Glasser.

RHP Ryan Flores earned the save after striking out three and allowing no runs in the final 1.2 innings of the game.

 

Lincoln 4, Sioux City 1- Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs stifled the Sioux City Explorers’ bats to just four hits in their win on Friday.

SP Nick Tepesch (1-0) allowed three hits and walked two in his scoreless six inning start on Friday.

The Saltdogs broke a 0-0 tie with a two-run fourth that included a sacrifice fly by CF Noah Cummings. Just one inning later, DH Curt Smith picked up his own sac fly and C Tyler Moore (3-for-4) scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.

RHP Cobly Blueberg pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

 

Chicago 12, Gary SouthShore 5- Box Score

The Chicago Dogs routed the Gary SouthShore RailCats thanks to an offensive outburst that included 13 this.

DH Trey Vavra led the way for the Dogs, going 2-for-2 at the dish with three RBIs and a walk. CF David Olmedo Barrera also had a night to remember, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and three runs scored.

SP D.J. Snelton (1-0) earned the win after giving up two earned and striking out seven in five innings of work.

SS Andy Dejesus paced the RailCats, going 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
