T-BONES JUMP OUT TO LEAD EARLY, DEFEAT WINGNUTS

Kc Erie

Kansas City 9, Wichita 4Box

An early offensive explosion paved the way for the Kansas City T-Bones on Tuesday evening as they defeated their in-state opponent Wichita Wingnuts.

Kansas City scored eight runs in the first three innings of the game. In the bottom of the first, 1B Nick Schwaner singled home DH David Espinosa to tie the game at one run apiece. An inning later, C Brian Erie (pictured) hit a two-run home run followed by a solo shot from 3B TJ Mittlestaedt. Wichita scored two in the top of the third, but Kansas City broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning. Schwaner hit an RBI triple for the first run of the inning, and SS Vladamir Frias added an RBI double. Erie laced an RBI single and Mittlestaedt hit an RBI double before the inning was out. Espinosa capped off Kansas City’s scoring with an RBI double of his own to score Erie in the eighth.

Erie and Espinosa both collected three hits, and Erie led the way for the T-Bones with three RBIs. LHP Rick Zagone struck out four in six and 1/3 innings for the T-Bones to earn the win. 

Trois-Rivieres 15, Grand Prairie 4Box

The Trois-Rivieres Aigles claimed their second straight win by trouncing the host AirHogs on Tuesday. The Aigles had four multi-run innings, including an eight-run ninth, in the game, one they trailed 4-3 after seven innings. The star of the day for Trois-Rivieres was DH Drew Miller, who went 4-for-6 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Miller launched his first home run of the season to lead off the eighth inning.

All nine Aigles starters recorded hits in the contest. 2B Pier-Olivier Dostaler notched a pair of RBIs on a double in the eighth.

With 2/3 of an inning of scoreless relief, RHP Nick Purdy earned the win for Trois-Rivieres. RHP Sean Keeler collected a save with two scoreless innings on the mound, including two strikeouts.

Amarillo 4, Laredo 1Box

Trailing 1-0 after three innings, the Amarillo Sox took the lead in the top of the fourth and never looked back, earning a 4-1 win over the Laredo Lemurs. SS Michael Broad hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the fourth, scoring RF Manny Osborne. CF Jeremy Williams hit an RBI single in the seventh, and later in the inning, 1B Keith Brachold hit an RBI double.

Brachold and LF Derek Perren had two-hit games for the Sox. Eight different Laredo players collected a single hit each, with 2B Travis Denker hitting a second inning solo home run.

RHP Michael Nannini allowed one run over six innings to get the win for Amarillo. RHP Erik Draxton saved the game and picked up a strikeout in the ninth.

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Lincoln 3 (Doubleheader Game 1- 7 innings)Box

A pair of three-run innings helped the RedHawks to a road win in game one of a scheduled twin bill. With one out in the top of the third, Fargo 1B CJ Retherford hit a two-RBI double to score SS Zach Penprase and LF Sawyer Carroll. 2B Brandon Newton hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth, and Retherford checked in with another two-RBI double when he drove in 3B Ronnie Borquin and DH Travis Higgs.

Retherford finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, all coming on his doubles.  Higgs and CF Nic Jackson also recorded a pair of his apiece for the RedHawks.

Earning the win on the mound for Fargo was LHP Joe Harris, who allowed no runs on one hit with one strikeout over one and 2/3 innings of relief work. 

Fargo-Moorhead at Lincoln (Doubleheader Game 2)- Postponed

The second game of the doubleheader between the RedHawks and Saltdogs was postponed due to rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games on Wednesday, June 4 at 5:05 p.m. at Haymarket Park.

St. Paul 6, Quebec 4Box

For the second night in a row, the American Association member St. Paul Saints had the upper hand over the Can-Am League’s Quebec Capitales. The Saints scored all their runs in the first four innings, including four in the fourth.

SS Joey Becker led off the game with a solo home run in the first, and 3B Henry Wrigley hit an RBI double in the third to score LF Evan Bigley. In the fourth, DH Joe Bonfe and Wrigley had RBI singles, and RF Brandon Tripp hit a two-RBI single to cap the scoring.

Quebec scored three runs in the eighth, including an RBI double from C Jean-Luc Blaquiere.

RHP Jeff Shields earned the win for St. Paul, striking out three over seven and 2/3 innings. RHP Dan Sattler worked around a walk to earn his fifth save of the year for the Saints.  

Gary SouthShore at Sioux City- Postponed

The game between the RailCats and Explorers was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games Wednesday, June 4 at 5:05 p.m. at Lewis and Clark Park.

Winnipeg at Sioux Falls- Postponed

The game between the Goldeyes and Canaries was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games Wednesday, June 4 at 5:05 p.m. in Sioux Falls.
