SOLO SHOT FROM MARTINEZ LIFTS SAINTS IN 11

St. Paul 5, Fargo-Moorhead 4 (11 Innings) – Box Score

The St. Paul Saints (27-12) rallied in the eighth and ninth innings to force extras and eventually earned 5-4 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 11 innings.

The Saints were trailing 4-2 heading into the eighth inning, but 1B Brady Shoemaker (2-for-5) pulled St. Paul back within a run with a solo home run. In the ninth, with two outs, SS Joey Wong singled home DH Burt Reynolds to tie things up at 4-4. The score remained level until C Jeremy Martinez hit a lead-off home run in the top of the eleventh and that run proved to be the difference maker.

For the RedHawks, CF Devan Ahart went 4-for-6 with a solo home run and a double and four other batters added a pair of hits including RF Tim Colwell who added an RBI.

 

Gary SouthShore 3, Kansas City 2 – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats (17-21) plated three runs in the first inning and made them stand up as they finished off the Kansas City T-Bones 3-2.

In the bottom of the first inning, 2B Andy DeJesus singled hom 3B Will Savage to start the scoring. Later in the inning, LF Raymond Jones singled to allow both DeJesus and RF Colin Wills to score. The T-Bones got on the board in the fourth when 2B Dylan Tice (3-for-5) singled home 3B Mason Davis and, in the seventh, 1B Daniel Nava hit a solo home run.

No RailCat had more than one hit but two T-Bones had multi-hit games. In addition to Tice, RF Danny Mars went 2-for-5.

 

Cleburne 7, Texas 5 – Box Score

A six-run sixth inning made the difference as the Cleburne Railraoders (20-20) topped the Texas AirHogs 7-5.

The Railroaders were trailing 2-0 heading into the sixth. A single from 2B Ryan Brett (2-for-5) plated the first run of the sixth-inning rally and, in the next at-bat, 3B Chase Simpson cleared the bases with a grand slam. C John Nester followed with a solo shot four pitches later. Nester homered again in the eighth inning to pad the Railroaders’ lead.

LF K.C. Huth added three hits for the Railroaders and RF Hunter Clanin had a pair.

For the AirHogs, LF Javion Randle went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and DH Jonathan Moroney went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

 

Winnipeg 7, Chicago 5 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (24-14) went to work early and held off the Chicago Dogs 7-5.

RF Willy Garcia opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first inning, but the Dogs took the lead in the bottom half thanks to a triple from RF Victor Roache that plated a pair of runs. In the second, 3B Jordan Hovey lifted a sac fly to plate CF James Harris (2-for-5) and, in the next at-bat, C Kevin Garcia (2-for-3) hit a two-run home run. LF Tyler Hill scored on a wild pitch in the third, and in the fifth, Willy Garcia hit his second home run of the night with another solo shot.

2B Edwin Arroyo hit a two-run homer for the Dogs in the bottom of the fifth and DH Keon Barnum hit a solo home run in the eighth, but the Dogs couldn’t pull any closer.

 

Sioux City 13, Lincoln 8 – Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers (21-19) rode their hot bats to a 13-8 win against the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday night at Haymarket Park.

The Explorers saw 15 hits from nine different batters in the game including a 3-for-5 performance from 3B Jose Sermo that left him just a triple shy of the cycle and provided his team five RBIs. LF Sebastian Zawada also homered in the game and went 2-for-4 with three RBis and two runs scored. CF Kyle Wren, SS Nate Samson and 1B Adam Sasser all added a pair of hits.

For the Saltdogs, RF Randolph Oduber (three RBIs), 3B Cody Regis (two RBIs) and DH Curt Smith (2-for-4) each homered in the game.

Starting pitcher Jason Garcia earned the win after throwing seven innings and giving up six runs (all earned) on five hits to go along with five strikeouts.

 

Milwaukee 8, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen (17-23) racked up 16 hits on the way to an 8-2 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

Eight different Milkmen recorded hits in the game and six of them had more than one. DH Jose Rosario led the way as he went 4-for-5 with two runs scored. 2B Cesar Valera, 3B Garrett Copeland, C Manuel Boscan, LF Adam Walker and SS Sam Dexter each added a pair of hits. RF Nolan Early went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

For the Canaries, 2B Alay Lago went 3-for-4 with an RBI and C Graham Low went 2-for-4.

Milwaukee pitcher T.J. House went the distance and gave up two runs, both earned, on eight hits while striking out six batters.
