Winnipeg 14, Fargo-Moorhead 4Box

The Winnipeg Goldeyes won a franchise-record 11th straight game, beating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 14-4 Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.

The Goldeyes came to bat in the top of the ninth with a one-run lead but rather than leaving the door open for a Fargo-Moorhead comeback, the Goldeyes scored 10 runs to put the game out of reach

Winnipeg led 4-3 in the ninth, and 1B Casey Haerther drew a walk to lead off the inning. Then, the Goldeyes made two quick outs, and the RedHawks needed just one more out to end the frame and get a chance to tie the game. Instead, the Goldeyes sent 10 more batters to the plate, scoring 10 runs on seven hits.

CF Reggie Abercrombie brought home Haerther with a two-run homer, and the Goldeyes hit back-to-back singles to put a runner on third, 2B Brock Bond, who then scored on a wild pitch. SS Tyler Kuhn hit a two-RBI double to right field, and 3B Josh Mazzola scored Kuhn on an RBI double to left field. After another walk to Haerther, LF Ray Sadler drove in another run on an RBI double, and RF Donnie Webb capped the two-out rally with a three-run homer. Webb batted 2-for-6 and led the Goldeyes with five RBIs.

Starter Ethan Hollingsworth (3-0, 2.84 ERA) pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out five.

Haerther, who went 1-for-3 with three walks and two RBIs, extended his hitting streak to 17 with a two-RBI single in the sixth.

Winnipeg, the top team in the American Association at 34-14, now has a 9.5 game lead in the North Division on second-place St. Paul.

Gary SouthShore 5, St. Paul 3Box

Gary SouthShore RF Drew Martinez hit a go-ahead, two-RBI triple in the second inning to give the RailCats a lead they never relinquished in a 5-3 win against St. Paul.

The RailCats trailed in the second inning when 3B Daniel Pulfer hit an RBI single to tie the game, and Martinez scored two more with his triple to make it 3-1.

St. Paul made it a one-run game in the fifth inning when 3B Jared McDonald drove in a run with a groundout, but the RailCats added to their lead in the seventh on an RBI double from 1B Wally Backman and an RBI single from DH Josh Romanski, making it 5-2.

The Saints made it 5-3 on pinch hitter Evan Bigley’s sacrifice fly in the eighth, but left the bases loaded, squandering their best opportunity to tie the game.

RailCats’ starter Stephen Hiscock allowed one earned run in seven innings, striking out three. Right-hander James Parr entered in the ninth and recorded his first save.

Lincoln 6, Grand Prairie 3Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs fell behind early but answered swiftly to beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs, 6-3.

In the top of the third, Lincoln LF Jeremy Hamilton gave the Saltdogs the lead, plating two runs on a double, and RF Brian Joynt singled home Hamilton to make it 3-1.

The AirHogs inched closer in the fifth when 1B Andres Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch, but Lincoln 1B Ian Gac made it 4-2 in the fifth on an RBI double.
