Lincoln 6, Kansas City 5 — Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs walked off on the Kansas City T-Bones 6-5 with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning after a single from RF Randolph Oduber.

The Saltdogs entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 5-4 but loaded up the bases with a single, a hit batter and an error from Kansas City. Oduber came to the plate with one out and singled home LF Brandon Jacobs to tie the game and PR Ivan Marin, who was running for 3B Tommy Mendonca, scored on the play as well after an error. Kansas City had built their lead early with a grand slam from DH Kyle Petty in the first and an RBI single from CF Omar Garcia in the second. But the Saltdogs responded in third when 1B Trever Adams led off with a home run and DH Curt Smith and Mendonca left the yard in back-to-back at bats.

Starting pitcher Derek Gordon (2-2) went the distance for Lincoln and allowed five runs on six hits while striking out nine batters.

 

Texas 4, Wichita 3 — Box Score

Texas AirHog 3B Ryne Willard singled home game-winning run in top of the ninth inning to give his team a 4-3 win against the Wichita Wingnuts.

Willard, who went 2-for-4 on the day, singled home SS Beamer Weems, who doubled to lead off the inning. Weems went 2-for-4 and was responsible for the AirHogs’ other three runs as he hit a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. The Wingnuts scored two of their three runs in the bottom of the first as CF Harrison Kain and DH Brent Clevlen each hit solo home runs.

Kain and Clevlen each had two hits in the game as well as C Martin Medina. For the AirHogs, CF Trevor Sealey also had a pair of hits.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Sioux Falls 3 — Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning and held on from there to claim a 4-3 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

The Canaries tied up the game at 3-3 with three runs in the top of the seventh but 2B Derrick Fox scored the game-winning run in the bottom half after he singled and then scored on a pass ball. Relievers Richie Tate and Trey McNutt took care of the rest on the mound. The Canaries put two runners on in the top of the ninth but McNutt forced three straight pop outs to earn his first save of the season.

For the game, the Canaries had just five hits, each from a different batter. For the RedHawks LF Devan Ahart had a game-high two hits.

 

Gary SouthShore 5, Winnipeg 4 — Box Score

One big fifth inning was all the Gary SouthShore RailCats needed to pick up a 5-4 win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

The RailCats entered the fifth inning trailing 4-0 but quickly turned things around. RF Anthony Checky Jr., who went 2-for-4, plated two unearned runs with a single to center and then LF Reggie Wilson scored when DH Frank Martinez singled in the next at bat. Checky Jr. and Martinez both scored when 3B Randy Santiesteban reached on an error.

For the Goldeyes, RF David Rohm went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Starting pitcher Charle Rosario (4-3) earned the win for throwing five innings and allowing four runs on seven hits.

 

Salina 8, Cleburne 7 — Box Score

The Salina Stockade earned their second win in a row with an 8-7 victory against the Cleburne Railroaders after a tense ninth inning.

The Stockade took an 8-6 lead in the top of the ninth when LF Troy Paris, who reached on an error, scored when RF Daniel Aldrich bounced into a fielder’s choice. In the bottom of the frame, C Shawn Zarraga hit a solo home run to draw the Railroaders to within one run but reliever Tyler Herr retired the next two batters to record his first save of the season.

For the game, Paris and 2B Jimmy Heck each had two hits and for the Railroaders, 2B Mitch Glasser went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

 

Sioux City 8, St. Paul 1 — Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers racked up 14 hits and turned them into eight runs in an 8-1 win against the St. Paul Saints.

Both CF Tony Campana and 2B Dylan Kelly went 3-for-4 on the day and Campana had two RBIs and two runs scored. Three other Explorers, including 1B Brian Fortier who had two RBI, added two-hit performances. Starting pitcher Hobbs Johnson (3-1) earned the win for throwing 7.1 innings and allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out four batters.

For the Saints, 1B Tony Thomas went 2-for-5 and DH Brady Shoemaker and 1-for-4 with the team’s lone RBI.
