Sioux Falls 2, Fargo-Moorhead 0 – Box
Sioux Falls starting pitcher Grady Wood and reliever Jose Ortega combined on a three-hit shutout as the Canaries beat Fargo-Moorhead, 2-0. Wood threw the first eight innings allowing only a pair of hits to go along with six strikeouts in 99 pitches. Ortega capped off the shutout by fanning a batter in the four batters faced in the ninth. Wood notched his fourth consecutive win while Ortega earned his third save. Offensively for Sioux Falls, RF Burt Reynolds and LF Ty Morrison each had 1-for-4 nights with a run scored.
Wichita 4, Texas 2 – Box
Right fielder Richard Prigatano’s two-run single in the fourth inning gave Wichita a 3-1 lead and that would be the difference in their 4-2 victory over Texas. Prigatano had two hits on the night to go along with a run scored and two RBI. Wingnuts 1B Matt Chavez scored two runs in a 1-for-3 night while DH Brent Clevlen collected a pair of hits in four at-bats. Wichita starting pitcher Eddie Medina tossed five solid innings to earn his fifth win of the season. Medina gave up an earned run on four hits and struck out six batters. For Texas in the loss, 2B Casio Grider went 2-for-5 with a home run.
Winnipeg 6, Gary SouthShore 4 – Box
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored a run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to rally from a 4-3 deficit and beat Gary SouthShore, 6-4. Winnipeg collected 12 hits as a team with seven of the nine batters picking up at least one. Goldeyes DH David Bergin went 3-for-4 on the night with three doubles, a run scored and a RBI while 2B Jordan Ebert had a pair of hits in four at-bats, including a double. Winnipeg pitcher Mitchell Lambson threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn his third victory. Lambson struck out four of the six batters faced.
Kansas City 12, Lincoln 4 – Box
After falling behind 3-2 through four innings, the Kansas City T-Bones scored five runs in the fifth to take a 7-3 lead and would go on to defeat the Lincoln Saltdogs by a 12-4 score. Kansas City collected 15 hits in the contest with four players having multi-hit games. T-Bones leadoff hitter Omar Garcia went 4-for-6 with three runs scored and a RBI while 2B Marcus Lemon had three hits in five at-bats and scored twice. Kansas City DH Kevin Keyes and 1B Kyle Petty each chipped in two hits and drove in a combined six runs. T-Bones starter Calvin Drummond gave up four earned runs over six innings pitched to notch his third win of the season. Drummond allowed six hits and three walks to go with five strikeouts.
Cleburne 4, Salina 3 – Box
The Cleburne Railroaders scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-0 lead and would hold off a late Salina rally to take home a 4-3 victory. Cleburne RF Blake Grant-Parks was the story of the game as he went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Railroaders CF KC Huth had two hits in four at-bats with two RBI while 2B Mitch Glasser plated a run in a 2-for-3 game. Cleburne starter Alberto Rodriguez threw five scoreless innings to notch his third win of the season. Rodriguez gave up three hits and four walks while striking out four.
Sioux City 8, St. Paul 5 – Box
Sioux City jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings of play and would cruise from there to an 8-5 victory over St. Paul. The Explorers pounded out 17 hits in the contest with eight batters picking up at least a hit. Sioux City C Dylan Kelly led the offensive charge going 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Explorers leadoff hitter Tony Campana added three hits and two RBI while DH Jonathan Gonzalez plated a run and drove in two in a 2-for-5 night. Sioux City starting pitcher Kramer Sneed gave four earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work to pick up the victory. Sneed is now 1-1 on the year.
