SALTDOGS DEFEAT BLASTERS TO COMPLETE FOUR GAME SWEEP

Lincoln 10, Joplin 7 – Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs rolled out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and would cruise to a 10-7 win over the Joplin Blasters. Saltdogs 1B Curt Smith led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Lincoln DH Rene Leveret scored a pair of runs and drove in three while C Luis Alen launched a home run and had four RBI. Saltdogs starting pitcher Lindsey Caughel picked up the win and improved his record to 4-3 on the season. Caughel gave up three earned runs on six hits in seven innings pitched. With the victory, Lincoln completed the four game sweep of Joplin.

Winnipeg 8, Sioux Falls 5 – Box

After falling behind 3-0 through one inning of play, Winnipeg scored seven runs over the next three innings to take control of the game and beat Sioux Falls, 8-5. Goldeyes RF Josh Romanski went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI while LF Willie Cabrera collected three hits in five at-bats and plated two runs. Winnipeg CF Reggie Abercrombie added three hits and SS Maikol Gonzalez drove in two runs. Starting pitcher Ethan Carnes tossed six innings and picked up his second win with Winnipeg. Carnes gave up an earned run on five hits and struck out three batters. For Sioux Falls in defeat, LF Cameron Monger had a 2-for-3 game with a home run and two RBI.
