RAILCATS SNEAK PAST WINGNUTS IN 15

Gary SouthShore 6, Wichita 5 (15 innings)- Box

An RBI single by LF Matt Petrone combined with an error in right field gave the RailCats the necessary boost to get past the Wingnuts 6-5 in 15 innings. After giving up a run in the top of the 15th, 3B Alex Crosby started the home half of the frame with a double. C Jose Gonzalez hit a one-out single to set up Petrone, who drove in Crosby, and Gonzalez scored on the error to end the game. Previously, 1B Jeremy Hamilton hit a two-RBI single in a three-run seventh for the RailCats. Crosby and DH Elbert Devarie had three hits apiece to lead the way for Gary SouthShore.

RHP Santiago Rodriguez worked the 15th for the win.

3B Zack Cox had two hits, including a double, for Wichita.

Laredo 8, Texas 1- Box

The Lemurs rode strong pitching and timely offense to an 8-1 win over their South Division rival AirHogs. CF Denis Phipps opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the second for Laredo, and RF Leandro Castro added an RBI single in the third. A three-run fourth, including an RBI single from Phipps, helped break the game open for the Lemurs. C Zane Chavez added even more insurance with a three-run homer in the seventh. Phipps would finish with three hits, leading the way for Laredo.

RHP Ryan Beckman allowed one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out six and earning the win for the Lemurs. RHP Luis De La Cruz and LHP Harold Guerrero combined for two scoreless relief innings.

For Texas, RF Cody Lenahan was 2-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season.

St. Paul 7, Fargo-Moorhead 3- Box

With five runs in the first three innings, the Saints rolled past the RedHawks 7-3. C Aaron Gretz opened the scoring with a two-RBI single in the top of the second, and a three-run third would follow. 1B Angelo Songco hit a solo home run with one out in the third, and CF Alonzo Harris followed with a double. 3B Nate Hanson singled to put two men aboard, and Harris would score on a wild pitch. A passed ball would score Hanson and put the Saints up 5-0. SS Tanner Vavra tripled home Gretz in the seventh for another Saints run, and Vavra would later come in on an error. Harris, Hanson and Gretz had two hits each for St. Paul in the win.

RHP Alec Crawford struck out four in five innings, earning the win for St. Paul.

For Fargo-Moorhead, 3B Josh Mazzola was 2-for-4.
