Lincoln 7, Cleburne 0 — Box Score

Thanks to a complete-game shutout from starting pitcher Brian McAfee (3-1) the Lincoln Saltdogs blanked the Cleburne Railroaders 7-0.

McAfee allowed just six hits in nine innings of work, did not issue a walk and struck out three batters. He needed 109 pitches to finish off the Railroaders and 78 of those went for strikes. Offensively, the Saltdogs backed him up with a run in the third, five in the fifth and another in the eighth. In the big fifth inning, DH Curt Smith doubled home a run, 1B Nathaniel Maggio singled home another and C Dashenko Ricardo hit a three-run home run.

3B Christian Ibarra, who went 2-for-5 on the day, scored in the third inning when LF Brandon Jacobs singled and he hit a solo home run in the eighth. Jacobs had three hits on the day and Ricardo had four. For the Railroaders, DH Pichi Balet went 2-for-4.

Winnipeg 10, St. Paul 1 — Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and the St. Paul Saints entered the first game of their three-game set Monday with identical records atop the North Division and the Goldeyes took a one game lead with a 10-1 win.

Starting pitcher Edwin Carl (6-1) earned the win for working 7.2 innings and allowing the Saints’ only run – a solo home run from 1B Brady Shoemaker – on six hits and four walks while striking out three batters. The Goldeyes’ bats provided more than enough run support right from the start as they put up five runs in the first and two more in the second. C Mason Katz lifted a sac fly to plate the fifth run of the first-inning rally and he blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.

CF Reggie Abercrombie added a pair of RBIs for the Goldeyes as he went 2-for-4 in the game and both DH David Bergin and RF David Rohm each had a pair of hits.
